You would think that with all the paper handling issues being reported with P700-900s, Epson would be expediting an update to address the issues. I recently upgraded my good old P800 with a P5370, and could not be happier. It’s a monster but the paper handling is far superior. Worth it.

I am a digital artist. I have been making digital art for quite a while now. So i want to expand my work to physical prints also mainly limited editions , A3+ max size. I have looked into several printere and narrowed down to these : Dye based :Canon Pro 200, Canon IP8770, Epson ET 8550 pigment based : Canon Pro 300 and Epson SC P700 For IP8770 i cant find any videos or reviews. Its quite affordable as compared to all other options but uses dye based ink cartridges Which one will be suitable. I will be using fine art matt paper 270 to 300 gsm. I have talked to some of my artist friends and they suggest using archival quality printer and paper.

For IP8770 - it's too old - not one I've covered even in my main written reviews [there are only a few lower end printers I cover] It all depends on quality and the market you are in. Pigment inks are what I'd prefer for sales [pigment and archival are good marketing terms - add in 'Giclee', if your market wants it ;-) ] One point I'd make though, which a lot of 'digital' artists discover, is that matching screens and prints is tricky, especially if you use devices like iPads, which have essentially no functional colour management. Whatever paper you use will also need an icc profile for it, and print from a proper computer. If some sort of a brand new way of getting the image onto paper surfaced... it will take 30 years to "plateau" like the others. Also known as "to become worthy of attention".
