Regarding the Marriott Boundless card, the terms state that regarding the 5 free nights, "Each Free Night Award issued will have an expiration of 12 months." Does this mean: 1) you must book a reservation before 12 the months have passed or 2) you must book AND stay before the 12 months have passed (similar to Delta Companion certificates) I am looking at Europe for summer 2025, but don't want to get this card if the nights will have expired period to my trip

Thank you! I got the Marriott card and will just move my spending to it for a few months. Hotels are gonna be the biggest cost on a couple of trips I'm planning this fall/winter, so these free nights are gonna come in handy.
