Super neat installation. The condenser pad edge to edge fit is slick. Isnt it too close to the wall? Will it affect efficiency?

Thanks. It's not too close to the wall. The manufacturer specs say 4 inches behind the unit (off the house), 24 inches in front of the unit (for fan to blow properly), and 24 inches to the left and right of the unit. So this unit will operate perfectly with how it is installed.

I currently have a 4 ton aging Lennox 15 years and my house is 2400 sq in Florida. My carrier guy said we can go to 5 ton if I want to keep house colder than 74 degrees and if I go variable then I don’t have to worry about humidity. Is this accurate? Or should I stick to a 4 ton. He said I’m right in the zone where we can go to 5 and since it’s not 1 speed humidity should not be a problem. Please help.

If it is Carrier variable speed 5 ton condenser 24VNA9 or 24VNA6, then there are airflow limits the installer can set so it can be dialed in for you house and ductwork. Those units take a lot more humidity out the air than single speed units and usually run at lower speeds throughout the day to keep your house more comfortable and even temperature.

Local Carrier dealer bid heat pump system 38MURAQ48AA3 with FT4BNXC48L00 air handler and Sensi 1F87U-42WF thermostat. 1.will i loose the variable speed compressor capability? Will it at least run as a 2-stage system since the air handler is 2 stage cooling? 2. does this system qualify for Fed Tax credit or Ca clean rebate? 3. Is the ecobee thermostat better?

Thank you for watching my video. Here are the answers to your questions. 1 - Yes, when matched with the sensi thermostat the outdoor unit will operate as a two stage cooling/heating and fan coil the same. The only way to get a true variable speed system would be to match it with the 40MUAA fan coil and Carrier communicating thermostat. 2 - No, the system does not qualify for a federal tax credit. That system has an efficiency rating of 15.2+SEER2/9+EER2/8.1 HSPF2. It would need to have at least an 11.7+EER2 to qualify. Yes, it will qualify for the CLEAN TECH CA rebate of $1,000 3 - I have not used the Sensi thermostat with that system. We prefer to use the ECOBEE.

I believe it's from Carrier's Asian division with whom it services internationally. The American inverter technology is partnered with an handler which can take advantage of the variable inverter technology and partner it with an American ducted heat pump system. I am a proud owner of such a system in FL. These are so efficient no additional electric, emergency, supplementary heat strips are needed. They can be used in Northern climates also. The install manual shows can be used with single stage conventional thermostat, just hooking up Y2 on the outdoor unit. Do you know how it works like this - if it ramps up to 100% within the first few minutes, ramps up gradually, or uses some sort of algorithm to determine what speed to run at based on length of previous cycles?
@fijiman88
@fijiman88 Жыл бұрын
It uses sensors and an algorithm to decide what speeds to run at. I recommend using the Ecobee thermostat. The Ecobee was designed with this system in mind and will offer the best performance.
@Jon-hx7pe
@Jon-hx7pe Жыл бұрын
@@fijiman88 Does it have capacity control, like if the cycles are short, it will run at lower capacities? You can have an inverter system and it adjusts the compressor and outdoor fan to maintain full capacity as conditions change. I see from the manual there are multiple ways to control it - single stage y2 only, two stage y1/y2, communicating and they don't explain how it actually works.
@Jon-hx7pe
@Jon-hx7pe Жыл бұрын
just fiy i looked at a carrier training presentation - the y1 is not a capacity control, whether on high or low it will gradually ramp all the way up to max capacity. with a y1 call, the ramp up is slower and it starts at a lower capacity. it's a lousy way to control a unit, it has to use full airflow on low, and will not dehumidify as well that well. it should have been designed to run at 50 to 60% capacity max with only y1 energized.@@fijiman88

I had one installed in July as duel fuel, so far it can’t keep my house under 80 when it’s 95 outside, and my PG&E bill has gone up. My house is also around 60% humidity when running. Is this normal or is something wrong
@albertairinc.1140
@albertairinc.1140 Жыл бұрын
Have the installing contractor check the temperature split from the return air to the supply air. It should be between 16 and 20 degrees. If it is lower than that they need to check the control wiring to the units. If it is not wired correctly the condenser outside will run at low speed and not be able to cool the house on a hot day. Then check that the system is charged correctly with R-410A. These units come critically charged for up to 25 feet of lines. If the lines are over 25 feet then you must weigh in the R-410A refrigerant at .6 ounces per 1 foot of refrigerant lines.

@@melissamccumiskey3267 That will depend on your house. What direction the sun hits it, roof materials, insulation, windows, etc.... So on a 100 degree day you should be able to get it between 70 and 80 degrees inside depending on the above factors. Humidity will also play a role in how cool you get it too.
