✈ Think your carry-on bag is safe? Think again. Airlines are tightening the rules in 2025, and you don’t want to be caught off guard with a bag that doesn’t make the cut. Avoid last-minute fees and surprises-here’s what you need to know to outsmart airline restrictions and travel stress-free.
🚨 A power bank caught fire before takeoff!
In January 2025, at Gimhae Airport (Busan, South Korea), an Air Busan flight with 176 passengers was preparing for departure to Hong Kong when a power bank in an overhead bin ignited. Flames, smoke, emergency evacuation-this could have been a mid-air disaster!
🔥 Now, airlines are on high alert.
🔋 Are power bank rules changing? Not officially, but expect stricter enforcement at security checkpoints.
📌 Power Bank Rules You Need to Follow:
✔ Must be in your carry-on - never in checked luggage.
✔ Under 100Wh (≈ 20,000mAh)? No problem.
✔ 100-160Wh (≈ 20,000-32,000mAh)? Requires airline approval.
✔ Over 160Wh? Not allowed.
💼 Carry-On Rules Are Changing - Are You Ready?
🔹 Bag size limits: Most U.S. airlines stick to 22x14x9 inches (56x36x23 cm), but European carriers have different restrictions.
🔹 Weight limits: Some airlines now enforce strict carry-on weight policies (8-10 kg / 17-22 lbs).
🔹 Overhead bin space is shrinking! Basic Economy passengers may not get bin access.
🔹 Smart luggage? Battery must be removable, or your bag won’t fly.
🔹 Liquids Rule (3-1-1) phasing out in some airports-but not everywhere.
🚀 How to Travel Stress-Free in 2025:
✔ Double-check airline rules before you pack.
✔ Use a carry-on with built-in organizers & easy-access compartments.
✔ Weigh your bag at home to avoid last-minute surprises.
✔ Pack smart: Wear bulky items, use travel-sized liquids, and organize electronics.
✔ Know your rights: Some items (medical gear, duty-free purchases) don’t count toward limits.
📢 DON’T Get Caught at Security! Watch now to avoid hidden airline fees, banned bags, and security delays.

I always put my handbag in my hand luggage case, when you get on the plane just take it out, put the case in the overhead bin and handbag under the seat in front. Perhaps not sticking strictly to the rules but the wheeled case is lockable and saves having to carry a bag through the airport. Slippers, headphones, iPod and Kindle are essential for the flight and go in the case and into my handbag for the flight, with a bumbag for passport, cash etc. I also carry all batteries in a bag to put separately through the scanner, so none in my checked luggage. I hope this is useful for other travellers.

@@globalflow8 So you are one of those people delaying everyone boarding while you rummage in your case for your bag, then, locking it up etc. I have everything prepared before I board. I dump my small bag on my seat, put my carry on in the overhead lock and sit my @55 down and let everyone else get on.

Pro Tip. Vacuum everything. I'm English and fly with Ryanair a lot. I vacuum everything down so it fits into a backpack that easily fits under the seat in front. Ryanair is is like Spirit Airlines for using overhead bins. On long haul flights take a couple of days spare vacuumed clothes with you just In case your case goes missing. Take trapped wind tablets, headache tablets and a small pot of vaseline for your nasal passages as the dry air can cause pain.

I hate the baggage weight charges. How is it right that a 150lb person gets charged for a 50lb bag but a 300lb person doesn’t get charged for their 45lb bag. If weight is that important then it would be required to weigh the passenger and the baggage. 200 total lbs is less than 345 total pounds when you live in reality.

Two young French couples were ahead of me at a Delta ticket counter. (I won't fly Delta if someone else can do the job.) The staff said the bags were overweight because they exceeded 44 pounds. Which was gibberish to the French. And the Delta staff didn't know what kilograms were. I had to explain that was 20kg and with a little juggling, they got the bags sorted out. Airline staff, and sadly TSA personnel as well, often create rules in their own minds. Carry a printed copy of the actual rules!

For charging your devices at random points around airports you MUST have a data blocker so you don’t find that a lot more than electricity has slithered up the charging cable and infected your device with a seriously nasty virus. It’s a tiny gadget that you plug into your cable, between the cable and device. It’s a simple thing-elecricity and data travel on separate wires, no way they can share a wire. A data blocker has wires to carry electricity, but no data wires, so viruses are physically blocked. Cheap as chips on Amazon or decent electronic stores anywhere. …You’re welcome.

I was surprised to find out that you can take frozen water bottles through TSA. I have done it several times in the past year. They may ask you to take it out of the bag to show them what it is and once they see it is frozen solid, they are good with it. I wrap it in a few paper towels to absorb the inevitable condensation..
@globalflow8

In fact, doctors recommend wearing compression socks on planes, especially for long flights, to help prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and improve blood circulation. According to a Cochrane Review study, compression stockings significantly reduce the risk of DVT in airline passengers on long-haul flights (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2021). The CDC and American Heart Association also support the use of compression socks for air travel, particularly for those at higher risk of blood clots

How is it possible that a small fire from the back of the plane ignites the roof of the entire plane, which should be made of non-combustible material, which burns from the back to the front, and the fire department does not come to put it out. I guess the firemen had a coffee break? The staff have hand fire extinguishers on the plane to contain small fires, haven't they been taught how to use them?
@globalflow8
@globalflow8 12 сағат бұрын
Good questions. The fire reportedly started when a power bank in a passenger’s bag overheated and exploded, triggering a chain reaction. While the fuselage is made of non-combustible materials, the interior panels, insulation, and wiring aren’t completely fireproof, once ignited, fire can spread fast, especially in a confined space with airflow aiding combustion. As for the fire extinguishers, yes, cabin crew are trained to handle small fires, but lithium battery fires are a different beast, traditional extinguishers aren't always effective. Lithium fires can reignite even after being put out, requiring specific fire suppression techniques. The response time of the firefighters is another debate. Airport fire services are usually on standby, but if this happened mid-flight or upon landing, external response times vary. Hopefully, investigations will clarify whether there was a delay or not.

What is the reason your device has to be able to go on? What’s wrong if your laptop is not charged? What are they trying to find?
@globalflow8
@globalflow8 2 күн бұрын
Security checks require electronic devices, like laptops, to be able to power on because a non-functional device could potentially be a security risk. One major concern is that a laptop with a dead battery might not actually be a laptop at all. it could be a shell used to conceal explosives or other prohibited items. It’s not about whether your laptop is simply out of charge; it’s about verifying that it functions as expected. If a laptop doesn’t turn on, security has no way of knowing whether it’s broken, tampered with, or intentionally disguised for something more dangerous. That’s why, to avoid issues, it’s always a good idea to make sure your electronics have enough battery before going through security.

BS. The rules are not new, just being enforced. The only change is that all devices using lithium batteries must be in carry-on and accessible for inspection. Stop the click-bait.

The entire TSA check needs to end. It's stupid. Its ineffective and time consuming. Do a metal detector walk through and be done with it.

I understand both perspectives. TSA can be frustrating, but security is also important. Perhaps a balanced solution is needed.

@@globalflow8 its a false sense of security though. All the frisking and searching is proving nothing but to dispose of bottles of hairspray and jelly jars.

Put your power bank in your immediate grab area. Not the damn overhead ffs
@globalflow8
@globalflow8 2 күн бұрын
A power bank catching fire in the overhead bin is a nightmare scenario, by the time anyone notices, it’s already out of control. Keeping it in your immediate reach means you can react fast

I thought batteries were safer? Maybe that's just electric trucks? I could be totally mistaken, maybe it's the zero emission electric cars charged by dam, oil, or coal produced electricity. Sheep

Oh, absolutely! Around 96.69% of power banks are manufactured in China. They’ve got the supply chain, technology, and production capacity to dominate the market. No surprise there!

Sir, you mentioned about carrying a laptop in the carry-on bag, great. Can i carry/take a PLAYSTATION 4 GAME CONSOLE WITH LEADS AND CONTROL ON BOARD IN CARRY-ON LUGGAGE OR CHECK-IN LUGGAGE as a gift for a child? Can i ? Please, please answer, thank you.

Yes, you can bring a PlayStation 4 console in both carry-on and checked luggage. However, it's recommended to pack it in your carry-on bag to avoid damage. Security may ask you to take it out for screening, just like a laptop. The power leads and controllers are allowed too. If packed in checked luggage, make sure it’s well-padded to prevent damage. Safe travels!
