The movies, and to an extent the anime, are supposed to be a treat for fans of the manga. Like candy. The movies specifically already expects you to know the backstory and characters going in so it's more of a easy viewing experience. At least that's how I see it anyway. The movies are meant to be a companion piece to the '97 anime, and the '97 anime is meant to be a companion piece to the manga. I feel bad for anyone (not ya'll) who only ever watched the movies and thought that was all there were to the story. So much from both the movies and anime is missing.

1:52 That actually happens in the manga, he was desperate and jealous of Griffith, so he did something similar to what Griffith did with Charlotte and Casca... Well, he tried, bc she defended herself and broke his nose, escaped and later helped the band of the hawk. Poor Charlotte, I'm sure she was traumatized.
