I believe she actually says to respond to ...H5 with H3 which I don't quite understand since H3 doesn't stop ...H4 as far as I can tell.

Alright, I think I figured this out. If you played ...H4, in response to H5 then since black would not be able to kick your white knight, they would instead use their pawn as a base of support for their own knight to jump to G4, so you play ...H3 instead and let them kick your knight back to E2 if they so choose, which seems kind of sucky but at least your knight still supports the center and you prevent the enemy knight from jumping to your side.

Yeah, but in the Analysis it's actually pretty neutral. Might be due to Live eval having less depth. I didn't include it in the video, since I figured it would be boring, but if you use the Cow as Black, you actually frequently start at a (minor) advantage. Like I said, it's a defensive/stable opening, which usually favors black.

Post-Post Game analysis: In the position at 04:20 just play Ne2 and either go for the UniCow Variation. Or play Ne4 and trade it, either making you go -2 or if they think they're playing checkers even go neutral. If they still push the pawn to h3, just ignore it and move the pawn on g2. That way you still have your knight, your bishop is better, you brought out an pawn (on g3 it's even protected by your knight) and basically, it's a WAY better play than I did :p

If Black plays h5, I would normally transpose to the Hippo with b3

I prefer 3. Nd2 and aim for a later e4 and f4. The Nd2 can go to both b3 or even c4 depending if Black decide to push d5 to d4

@@The_Nizz I have played 3,000+ games using this opening for White e3 and d3 and a similar amount of games as Black, e6 and d6 for many years so it is not something new for me. As someone said, PAFU wrote 3 books on the actual move order and it's variant way back in 2000.

Love the pun ;) Tbf, it was just a demo game, I was commenting whilst playing (can't stay quiet too long in a video) and some other excuses I'm not gonna bore you with But Magnus probably would've turned it into an advantage somehow :p Back then I also still was at the level of "any move backwards is a bad move", which usually is true, especially at lower ELO's.

1. This is not an opening. It is a system. 2. Anna Cramling did not invent it. There is a Pafu's book on the internet - Defense Game (D-system) since FOREVER. Eric Schiller mentions him and his system in one of his own books. He used to call it - Beginner's Defence. So, SHE IS A THIEF AND A LIAR. 3. SHE IS THE WORST AT ADVOCATING THIS SYSTEM.
