First time I’ve decorated my little house in 15 years. I live alone and never wanted to. Not sure why I decided to but I did. Right now I have my dining table decorated for thanksgiving and have my tree up and decorated in the living room 😂
@MandaKaye615 Жыл бұрын
I’ve always tried with my children when they was little starting December 1st to read a bedtime story every night about Christmas or Christmas like story like Rudolph reading a different story every night and if there was a movie about that story the following day after reading the story at night then we watched the movie the next day and would go over the things in the movie that was the same and different then the story. I felt like this not only was a Christmas tradition to do but helped with reading and paying attention to details but also helped them learn how to talk and discuss things they were comparing and when they was big enough after reading the book before watching the movie I would have them use their imaginations to describe and/or draw what they imagined characters looked like, scenes in the book looked like and so on. It’s great to have a tradition focusing on a holiday that also helped with their education and creativity. You could also if you wanted to do arts and crafts centered around books and stories taking paper plates to paint Rudolph, bake sugar cookies decorating them with characters from a book, making stick characters, using balls and old socks to make snowmen, the list goes on and on!!

I am in the UK and this coming Sunday, the 26th, is Stir Up Sunday. The day we, traditionally, make our Christmas Puddings. Everyone in the house that day takes it in turn to stir the mixture from East to West and make a wish. It is east to West because the Wise Men travelled in that direction to see the new born Baby. Also I always have 12 small presents on the tree for each member of the family. They pick one present on each of the twelve days of Christmas. That way Christmas does not start and end on one day.

I’m in the UK as well and we also do stir up Sunday and like you we celebrate the twelve days of Christmas. So nice to hear that other people still do the same. Unlike our American cousins though we do not decorate so early our tree goes up about two weeks before Christmas. Hope you have a lovely Christmas season.
@annwilliams2075 Жыл бұрын
@@susanholding158 my tree goes up a week before, usually the Sunday we have the church nativity play. We come home to the unboxing of the tree and decorations, the first chocolate Yule log and warm mince pies, almond biscuits (all home made) and hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. No good for the diet but great for a festive start to the season. The Christmas cake gets its next feed of brandy and will be iced and decorated Christmas Eve morning. Just before the mass peeling of veg starts and everyone is fingers crossed that the turkey has thawed. 😂😂😂

I started a tradition a couple years ago with my immediate family. We are always with everyone else for dinners so I thought it would be so special to do a ‘fancy’ Christmas dinner with just our household. So I have classy Christmas music playing, make a fancy table scape and cook a candlelit dinner. What we have for dinner is also a surprise. Last year I did steak and shrimp hibachi 🤤with desserts. We then read the Christmas story together, open gifts, make cookies and watch a Christmas movie to end the night. It’s always been SO special and intimate ❤️

When we had our first son we bought him his own tree and ornaments. We continued this with our second son also with the two girls we adopted. As they grew so did their trees. When they moved out they took their tree along with ornaments. They packed them away and bought new with their partner but packed up their tree to give to their first born. They have all their ornaments on their new tree as well. Just anther idea I did having four kids I colour coded their wrapping paper instead of name tags. I absolutely love the aura frame. I’m definitely making those pretzels they look so good ♥️🌲❄️. He house looks amazing. God bless 🙏

The boys are a big help now. You should let them help you bake the fun treats and decorate the tree. It makes such great memories for them. They'll be grown before you know it.

In November we started to write on slips of paper a blessing we experienced that year. We put them on our Christmas tree and each day in December we read one. It reminded us how ever blessed we are. It was a good testimony to our children.

My grandparents used to give everyone a new Christmas ornament every year on Thanksgiving and then would put them in boxes with each of our names on them and when we moved out and got married they would give us our ornament boxes. I’ve taken over the tradition with my own grandkids but I let them take them home to use on the family trees and everyone looks forward to getting their new ornaments on Thanksgiving and they all get so excited when I have them sit down to open them. I try not to buy ornaments I actually make as many as I can which I absolutely love to do. I have several Pinterest ornament ideas pinned for several years worth of ornaments lol 😂. I absolutely love how you decorate for Christmas and your Nativity set is just beautiful!!

I'm starting a tradition this year with my kids. This year I got us a skinny tree for our kitchen. I got the popcorn and cranberry garland from hobby lobby to avoid the mess, but I plan on letting the kids make real gingerbread man ornaments and dried orange slices ornaments as well as hang candy canes on it. I'm so excited to do this right after Thanksgiving and making it a new tradition. We have a family tree they get to hang there school and personal ornaments on as well. Another new tradition is something I am going to start doing with my.sunday school class which is having them make a gingerbread nativity they can display at home. I'm hoping they turn out good

Thank you for another beautiful video. I live in Estonia and we don't obviously have Thanksgiving here. I decorate my home at different times. Sometimes at the beginning of November, sometimes later. I usually do it bit by bit, not all at once. As for Christmas traditions, we go sleighing down hills with our family. We are mostly not religious around here, so Christmas has more of its original meaning for us. Lighting up the darkest time of the year and celebrating the fact that it'll gradually get lighter and lighter soon (we are quite up north, so it's pretty dark here during that time). We always go to the cemetery to light candles on our ancestors' graves. That's always so beautiful. Our cemeteries are very green with lots of nature and big trees, so the hundreds of flickering candles almost look magical in the night.

As a tradition with my three boys when they were little, I would always read, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," right before they went to bed on Christmas Eve. My mother did the same with my siblings and me.

A tradition I do every year is to make sure we honor the reason for the season. I have an assortment of nativities…each and every room in our house (even rooms we may not use and rooms I don’t otherwise decorate) will have one of these nativity items on display. Some are large manger sets, some are just small one piece items, some are no more elaborate than just being an ornament….. but I’ve done this for years to keep Christmas in my heart and home.

I have read the story THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS every Christmas Eve since I had my first child, both my children are now in their twenty's they still sit down while I read them the story. We all mix the dried fruit together for the Christmas cake in September. The highlight for me is midnight mass when Jesus is place into the manger.

We loved seeing all your decorating! I have such a love/hate relationship with Christmas, as my Dad passed on Christmas Day. It was only years later when our Son was born did we decide to share the memories and make it a magical time to celebrate. It’s still tough, however we do what we can for our children. I wanted to share our tradition with you. I wrap 24 books and put them under the tree. Every night we open one and read it together. Much love to you and your family and from Australia we pray for peace to all throughout our world 🙏❤️

Gott segne dich! 🤗🥰🙏🏼

Jesus is the reason for the season. That's our Christmas tradition. We have been married almost 50 years. Before we open gifts, we read the account of Christ's birth in Luke. Our children grew up doing this. We have a special needs son and he gets so excited for Christmas. However, if you ask him the true meaning of Christmas... He will say... Jesus was born. Beautiful decor. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

I always decorate after Thanksgiving. The LORD has Blessed me in a mighty way over the years; thus Thanksgiving is a special day to be thankful to and for HIM. ✝️ Anyway, I take down my indoor and outside fall/ autumn decor the week after Thanksgiving and start Christmas decor the 1st week of December. Aside from the above; I love your Christian focus on the "REASON" for the season and your traditional Christmas colors/themes. It's all beautiful, Hannah.😉

What started doing something not even thinking it would become a tradition but we loved it so much, we have to do it several times during the Christmas season. About 10 years ago, hubby mentioned going to look at Christmas lights. We hadnt ate dinner yet so i said something about fixing something before we go. Hubby said "lets just eat out". I dont usually like eating in the car but hubby said to take some drinks and we will get personal size pizzas (its just me, hubby and our now 18 yr old son) so we did that and lldrove around looking at Christmas lights. The 3 of us loved it so much, it has become one of our fav traditions for the season. I tried your pretzel recipe several years ago, hubby loved it so much i have to make it several times a year.

Hi! We have decorated. We usually start in mid November because we are so busy this time of year. As far as Christmas traditions, one of my favorites is just being able to get together and sing. We grew up singing. So Christmas is my favorite time to sing some of our favorite Christmas songs, such as Silent Night, Away in a Manger, and O come all ye faithful. ( just to name a few🥰)

Our Christmas tradition started with our first child. Each year, we go to Hobby Lobby and let each child pick out an ornament for the tree. The tree is quickly filling up and I love all the different ornaments and each one is so loved by the child that picked it out. We should have purchased duplicates of each ornament so they could take theirs with them for their tree when they grow up and move out.
