New Citroen C5 X In Depth UK Review 2023 Is It X Ceptional?

Top car ! I tried one days ago, you won't believe me but it's as comfortable as a Rolls Royce and I'm not even exaggerating. To me, that car is "accessible luxury". It truly is a luxury car.

I have owned a 1.2 Sense Plus since October and have covered nearly 8,000 miles in it. The car is well screwed together and I have not had any faults. The 1.2 engine provides adequate power and the fuel economy is exceptionally good. Keeping to speed limits you can expect in excess of a genuine 46 mpg on a run. The 180 bhp 1.6 petrol engine is no longer available to order. The ride quality is not that exceptional, and only improves when loaded. Active suspension is only available on the hybrid versions. The big drawback is the very poor front seats. Just about the worst I have ever experienced in any car I have owned. Forget all the hype about them being “Comfort Seats”. Try the seats in a Citroen C5 Aircross, and you will find them to be much better, although they look similar. Although the narrow tyres provide enough grip, larger rubber would look better. In France the C5X has 17” wheels on the cheaper versions. The C5X is a rare sight on the roads in the U.K. or France. Currently I am in Italy and have only seen one in a showroom, but then the model range is greatly restricted here.

In the UK 1000 units of the C5-X were sold in the first 4 months of this year. 1600 units in France in the same period of time.

how are you getting on with the 1.2l? I was looking at the C5X, however I have heard horror stories about the 1.2l puretech engine in Citroens.

I was driving my belovet VW Passat R36 with its low front bumper towards the bank to withdraw all my cash, when a C5 with road presentation zoomed pasd me and accidentally crushed a pair of vise grips on the road. Despite the minor incident, I continued on my journey, enjoying the scenic views and the feeling of the wind in my hair. Thanks for reading my comment despite the fact it doesn’t have many likes.

The Citreon interior would even better with wood trim instead of the gloss black.

Correct ! Definite complain i have of too many of these new car models nowadays (from various brands not just Citroen) is the excessive use of glossy black plastics or in some cases, stupid looking 'carbon fibre' plasticky glossy interior finishing....no real 'standard' as far as i'm concerned, as for 'standard' i expect either some burr walnut woodgrain or at least some regular grain matt finish brown woodgrain....

I bought a 1.6 shine + , it's the only one thats any good for towing that is when a tow bar comes out for it

It's a nice, niche car, but it's way too expensive. For its price one can get a 3-year old E Class with airmatic, which is a more refined, luxurious car that will hold value much longer.
