I just got mine a few months ago. Overall I love it, my coffee tastes awesome. It’s not hard to clean, but I find it to be messy on the inside, there are always coffee grinds and water that empty into the machine instead of the little waste receptacles. I also find setting the auto brew feature to be more complicated than it should be (why I’m here, seeing if I am doing something wrong). It always resets the time to pm if I try to turn the auto brew on for the following morning after work, so I have to go through each hour until it flips back to am. It’s not difficult, just a bit of a hassle. Overall, I’m glad I bought it. It’s a pretty slick machine. Makes a fantastic cup of coffee.

I’m with you Laura - great cup of coffee, but really messy cleanup. I wondered if my machine was a lemon due to all the grounds and water inside my unit. I bought a bamboo sliding shelf for the unit to sit on, in order to keep the mess off my countertop. Finally, I had to add a silicon mat atop the shelf. This unit is perfect for a 2-person household and we do feel like we’re saving beans, drinking what we brew every time.

I have the exact same gripes about ours as well. I very close to contacting their support since so much water and grinds end up on our counter when I go to empty the water and spent grinds bins.

Thanks for the review. Just bought one today to actually replace my drip grind and brew coffee maker. I got tired of cleaning each time I make a pot of coffee, and typically I just want one cup at a time and not an entire pot. Pods taste terrible and were never appealing to me. I’m surprised this style of machine was never created earlier. I tried it out today and did notice a bit of a mess inside. It sounds like this is normal and doesn’t necessitate additional cleaning than what Is recommended?

I wish it were easier to clean. I've had this machine for almost 1.5 years and can't figure out how to clean the bean shoot or keeping fruit flies out of it. It always makes a huge mess after each Brew and lights flash like a christmas tree... It does make a mean cup of Joe but I'm not sure if it's worth the struggle.

Awesome video, definitely interested in getting one. How would you say the "espresso style" compares to say Nespresso vertuo in terms of quality?
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
It's not ideal - I would rather change beans when doing espresso because the method tends to pick up on some different flavours, so I would say the vertuo would be more appropriate. My opinion would be about 70% of the quality output of the vertuo

In your opinion, how sealed/airtight is the bean hopper? Would it be better to keep it to small doses (from an actual vacuum container) or will it hold the beans well over time?
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
The hopper lid has a rubber gasket around the rim to lock in the air - it's a tight seal, probably airtight. That being said, I personally use a vacuum canister and dose the hopper for a couple days at a time to maximise freshness. You don't need to use a vacuum canister but it is a small benefit with any coffee setup, especially with beans that are freshly roasted.

I'd say the machine is a bit quieter than average, but not by much. It still produces audible sounds because of the integrated grinder. Really depends on how sensitive of a sleeper they are, and their proximity to the machine.

@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
Hey, good question Michael. I did a test - it's 11oz of coffee for the 24oz setting in the 'over ice' function. I also ran it at 12oz it and outputs 5.5oz of coffee at that size. It assumes that about half of the cup volume is ice.

The machine is available now - just got released March 1st! I recommend doing a quick Google search on the model numbers and checking out pricing from your local speciality coffee equipment retailers. Thanks for this review. It was great! I am a super heavy coffee drinker. I prefer American style large cups (as you mentioned in this review). Currently, I have a Jura A1 (which has been great). However, to get my "cup" of coffee, I have the long pull set to the largest amount and push, wait, and push again for my cup. I like the taste and it's nice having the crema, but I still miss the taste of drip coffee. Any thoughts of Jura A1 vs this for American style coffee drinkers who drink black coffee all day long? Should I buy this and switch even though the jura was twice as much? Thanks!
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
Oh cool! Jura A1! There was a time I used that machine quite a bit. It's a solid machine. The drink styles are different and the TrueBrew will definitely be closer to american drip coffee... for sure. In terms of beverage size, it's bigger. That being said, coffee from the Jura machines, especially ones with P.E.P have always been unique to their own and a good cup. I'd say the Truebrew will be a stronger beverage but will also be more bitter. The Jura will be less bitter but will lack the body from the TrueBrew when using a larger cup size. I'd honestly stay with the A1 if you can tolerate the inconveniences, otherwise the Truebrew could be more appropriate as a daily driver.

No idea on the release schedule. Usually machines come out in the UK first, and then North America. This one was obviously designed for here and was an unusual release schedule.. If it comes to the UK, and the scheduled roll out is any similar to Europe->Americas, it could be up to a year or two.

Hey there. I’ve seen some reviews saying that it leaves a mess inside. Have you noticed this? Also does it brew as a puck or does it just make it a puck before discharging? Pucks are generally for espresso. Thanks
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
I've heard this, too. Personally this does bother me as long as the brew group is getting cleaned weekly. Most fully automatics have some small debris inside. Pretty normal. In terms of the puck - it's sort of a puck? It has trouble holding its form and I would call it more of a coffee cake.

Avoid avoid avoid. Oily beans create a tar-like substance in grinders that will eventually damage them. Best bet is a medium-dark roast with a matte finish

Thanks for that review. According to your experience what is the right temperature ?
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
Usually anywhere from 90-95.5°C, 194-205°F. The right temperature is totally dependant on the beans being used. I would strongly recommend trying each of the temperature settings and follow your taste buds what you think is best. Usually, lower temperature for dark roasts, higher temp for light roasts, but there are always exceptions.

How does this machine compare to Spinn?
@HomeCoffeeSolutions Жыл бұрын
Ooooooo! Cool question. They're are a bit apples-to-oranges. The Spinn machine is espresso-focused and uses a centrifuge which is sort of a new type of coffee brewing, besides Nespresso Vertuo and a couple of other brands. I haven't reviewed it yet but I'm in favour of the tech - it's a cool concept. On paper, the notable differences would obviously be price (Spinn is 2-3x more expensive, region depending), the TrueBrew's mechanics are much closer to a traditional 'drip' style coffee, Spinn has smaller maximum beverage volume and spout height. I'm pretty sure the TrueBrew is also hotter, since beverage temp has been a pain-point anecdote I've heard about the Spinn. Spinn has a great app, adjustable grind settings per beverage (very rare), and comes with preset settings for the beans from their online store. I guess another notable difference would be the company backing them - DeLongh is well established, and Spinn is still a startup. Availability and long term support for Spinn depends on their success. These are my two cents - but obviously I haven’t demo’d it personally so I don’t have much more to say.

at $400+ this seems iffy... sure you get the convenience aspect but you can get an capresso infinity grinder for $85 and around $215 to spend on any coffee machine you want and have $100 to spend on literally anything else...

Makes a great cup of coffee, but the machine is so poorly designed internally that ours only lasted 5 months. Take a look at all the reviews online and you'll see my situation is not unique. Warranty policy requires you send it back and they "fix it" and then send it back ... this is 6 week process ... there is NO option to get an immediate replacement and credit back when they receive the broken unit. The problem is internally the grinds make a mess!! The grinds clog and block sensors and arms and even the compression unit piston. The compression piston scraper is small arm that just swipes grinds to the side that sometimes hits the tray that holds them and sometimes not so grinds go everywhere internally. Perform monthly cleaning with the special cleaning fluid you have to buy for this machine does NOTHING, doesn't help solve any issues. DO NOT buy this machine unless you like to pull it apart (completely disassemble) every month and clean it and blow it out with compressed air (only way to clean it is with compressed air). It's clearly apprentice grade engineering with zero thought about longevity.
