Nothing could have ever prepared me for the absolute terror that came after my brother joined the military and was on active duty. As adults, we love to see others surprise their children at school. We often forget what it was like to be that child; the embarrassment of your mother and father on your turf and the snide comments from classmates thereafter. The boy wiping his eyes at 4:20 was nice to see and a glimmer of hope.

As a dad, it's beautiful to see this reunions, but it's tough to know when the family is not complete. To serve the military and knew that dad or mom is on duty seems the hardest decision in your life. To see the children grow up without mom or dad seems hard. And to chose for the army because of serving "the world" is a big sacrifice. So my deep respect for those who serve. Now and in the past....

@Anders ᛖᛚᛁᚨᛋᛖᚾ Well, if he's becoming a militar obviously he's not just gonna think "oh I hope to get home and surprise my family", the idea is also to protect the country from people who want to do bad things on it, and if you survive as a hero, then it will be better to get home to your family
@thecomichero52724 жыл бұрын
@Anders ᛖᛚᛁᚨᛋᛖᚾ Well, I'm not telling this guy "yup, go and kill innocent people", the person like an individual must know what they want to do in there, you're not gonna tell me that every of them are obligated to kill innocent lifes, if someone wants to be different, hope they'll be ok, safe, and fighting for goodness wherever they are (and gosh, for good I know what it is like to kill innocent people, I'm from Venezuela)
@thecomichero52724 жыл бұрын
@Anders ᛖᛚᛁᚨᛋᛖᚾ Ok guess I cannot say anything more cause I gave all my valid opinions, literally I don't know a thing bout USA army, and in Venezuela they are really commanded to kill the natives so... Ok ✌️

I do believe the only thing nearly as tough as our military men and women are the families and loved ones they leave behind when deployed. The not knowing when they see a news report if their loved ones are okay. Especially when OPSEC requires no contact or when they go outside the wire for extended periods. Thank you to our military and their families who sacrifice so much!

Story that will heart warm you (not mine!) "Daddy home?" said my 2-year-old, tugging my skirt. "No, not yet." This repeated years on end. Every day, he'd ask: "Daddy home?" and he'd cry often when i said no. New Years passed... Birthdays passed... Other holidays passed too. Until one day, once he asked I got to say 'yes' as he rang the doorbell. "Daddy home!" I called to my son. After 3 years of waiting, his father returned. "PAPA!" he cried out in joy, crying hard. He ran into his arms. "Daddy home..." I said, in tears. "...daddy home."
