I wish there will be a combination of these solutions and the traditional available some day soon, because tracks work well on wetlands, but wheels with chains are still the best option for steep and rocky terrain. Seen from a forest owners perspective, of course. I do think contractors would find it attractive too, though. In Norway, they use tracks anyhow, but coping with the differences in terrain, it might be an advantage to have both. Nowadays they run wheel machines with additional steel tracks, which causes strain on the boogies, and poor control of the machine in icy conditions.

tracks have 1 flaw - they don't climb. If you're stuck then you are fucked. You should test it in extreme conditions not in perfect conditions really. Who gives a fuck if they work where tires(which are like 20x cheaper)also work.

This concept machine has been developed for extracting timber from sites with low bearing capacity - which there are millions of hectares of in the Boreal forests alone - without causing excessive damage to the soil & tree roots, as can happen when using wheeled machines on soft sites (the forest industry actually does care about that). Wet sites are almost always flat as water has a tendency to follow gravity. There is no suggestion that tracked machines should replace wheeled machines in other conditions...
