I so very much enjoyed this video. I have been a dentist for over 48 years, and fit and finish is everything. No matter what we skilled artisans construct, it is all about fit and finish. I salute the young man, and the other members of his team, who helped him construct this magnificent piece of hand craftsmanship. So, from the making of a dental crown, to his magnificent water wheel, it is all the same. We create something of lasting value, and creativity. And each project is unique, and special. Thank you, young man, may you make many more artistic projects in your long life. Thank you again, Dr. George M. Whitehead D.D.S.

where they still could or better should, learn and do things without their calculators and iBooks... a pencil and a ruler, that is all that is needed. wonder how many could construct such a waterwheel the way these two students did.
@mumblbeebee65464 жыл бұрын
Benedikt Morak Erm... he did use CAD as well, as shown in the video? A good craftsman uses the best tool for the job that's available. Sure, pencil and notebook are important, as I teach my electronics students. But it's a bit naff to complain about useful tools that everyone has available nowadays....

if y'all make a water wheel like this again, just put the second side down on the first and use shims to *lift* the paddles up into the second side's slots when you line them up... so much easier... then you pull the shims out and pack it down

2016.no problem to get that amount of wood. wonder if they could do it 2022? and not thinking of Corona. They were only a few, i only saw 4, and i nthe end the finishing crew. so there should be no problem? One question though i don't see anything about. the -templates - for certain things. where did he get them from? made them himself? or were they - somewhere - in a corner in the shop? not that it matters much one would suppose, it is good to see that young people are still interested i nsuch works. AND even better to see that they go with the times and know how to use tools that make their work easier ( Cad...)

The Wheel is installed the wrong way round, It should discharge the spent water Downstream NOT UPSTREAM, sorry to inform you. and any bypass water from the stream should flow under the wheel just touching the bottom of the wheel, that will give more energy, In your installation, the wheel should be trying to role UPSTREAM.

Overshot (this one) and undershot designs are used in different applications. The undershot is for very low head of water here they have a hull head so they use the overshot wheel. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_wheel

The video poster states in German that the wood is Oak and Larch. I have heard of Larch used as ship decking because it is somewhat resistant to water-rot. Larch is more dense and stronger than pine as well.
