"Extra crossout designator" already exists, it's Ghost Reaper. People used to side deck it all the time, especially into sky striker or striker would sometimes main it (since you have room for targets). In MD it doesn't see much play I think because people don't have the space or the UR dust for it (because it's one of those *must craft* URs like Ashe and Ghost Ogre, and it needs an extra deck target, but in mirrors it might work)

Playing Ghost Reaper in a BO1 just sorta feels like an admission that your deck is bad. Instead of playing a versatile tech card that can gain advantage in different ways, you’re basically just saying “I can’t beat you if you get to play your strategy as intended, so I’ll go -1 to avoid dealing with your boss monster”. As an option post-side in certain BO3 metas it can make sense, as there are occasionally more diverse formats where ghost reaper is decent-to-strong against 2-3 other decks which don’t share any other non-engine weaknesses - but maining a card that can have little-to-no impact vs other top-tier decks just so that you can maybe cheese wins against one specific strategy is never really where you want to be. It’s also a very low-skill card, since rather than evaluating where a choke point is by considering the lines an opponent is going for you just drop it as soon as you see what they’re on and hope they can’t beat you with their other 13-14 ED options - a good player with a competent deck should usually have a gameplan vs a deck like Purrely, and feel confident that if they time their handtrap/use their non-engine effectively, they can have a good go at executing that gameplan.

@@DaemonRayge yeah there are decks that can play it comfortably, but you’re opting to not play stuff like extravagance and/or the dogmatika engine (which are also only viable in the same sort of decks) in order to run a handtrap that is in 95% of scenarios an inherent -1 (unless you chain it to something like scheiren’s effect in the specific scenario when your opponent’s only valid target is Kitkallos, you’re using the card preemptively and just letting them pivot to a different line). If there’s one specific deck whose boss monster you can’t beat, there’s always a non-engine counter to that card (for example, if your Purrely matchup is that bad, you could play 3x herald of the abyss instead of reaper - this lets you actually out a boss they’ve pumped resources into and go plus in card advantage, rather than minussing yourself before they commit). Reaper only makes sense if almost every deck in the format has bosses you can’t compete against - sure, you could stack your ED with the most troublesome names, but it’s clear that if you’re down that bad then your deck obviously isn’t any good to begin with. As I said, it only makes sense in a BO3 as a side-deck option. If you don’t rely on your ED and there are three or four low-tier/rogue decks you’re worried about, but none of those decks share a common weakness to a specific non-engine card, then you could run reaper as a way to cover all those matchups whilst only using up 3x side deck options. This doesn’t translate to BO1 - since you’re always going in blind and every game is coinflip-dependant, you need to choose non-engine that covers your deck’s weaknesses, rather than cards that exploit the weaknesses of other meta threats - in the tcg you can purposefully underprepare for certain matchups if you know you have the tools to win games 2+3 post-side, but in BO1 you always want to have some sort of competent gameplan vs every meta deck.

No disrespect, but game 1 was super free. Going ecclesia + sythanna > baxia was a big misplay. Instead you could’ve linked off the sythanna, then go battle phase and crash monk to activate sythanna’s effect from the graveyard to pop chixiao. Now he has no disruption. Then you play standard. Go ecclesia > taia > baxia (taia send mo ye to graveyard) shuffle 2 > baxia reborn mo ye into full combo and free win.

Ghost Reaper essentially does what you'd want an Extra Deck Crossout Designator to do. Except better since it outright deletes the opponent's copies of the selected Extra Deck monster. There aren't enough decks besides Flooandereeze that don't care about their extra deck at all to make that a really viable option most of the time though.

Someone must have wanted to make sure one of them made it to Top 8. Or more likely, they had a really close or really separate score coming out of pools that seeded them that way. Pools into Elims usually seed Best v. Worst narrowing the ranges as they go down the list, to give top performing players better chances at climbing the ranks. That doesn't mean upsets won't happen though, Paper Worlds wound up seeing their entire lower half upend the the ones favored to win just this year, showcasing what a hot mess the game has become even without Maxx "C" to worry about thanks to the combined banlist.

I was just looking at Deck Lockdown the other day for Dark World since I can draw into it. Better than Droll there because it can be set to prevent it from discarding AND without adctivating it. It might be good. Only issue is that it does nothing going second. But people run EEV sometimes so it's probably okay to have at least 1 going second brick.

Endymion is a good option, but also Dracoslayer and D/D/D could be a nice starter. All 3 of them are very beginner friendly even though they cost a bit, but it will be worth it, you can make so many great combos even with a couple of cards, so go for it! 💪👍

It depends what you like as your playstyle. I can easily tell you what's the best deck but if you don't know how to properly use it then you will lose duels. Also I don't know how much you know about yugioh. That being said if you are new I would say try out labrynth as it's easier to learn then other decks.
