In Austria everything is closed on a sunday, except gas stations, cafès or restaurants, there are only a few supermarkets (mostly at big train stations) are open... On saturday the most supermarkets close at 6 in the evening..

and with that opening hours.. since I live in a very small city local shops are open only until 12 p.m. on weekends, so it's even worse :D only supermarkets and shopping centres have opening hours until late afternoon/early night :)
