The first 30 seconds is cinematography at its best! The initial uncertainty with the new lady ... the "mock-up" introduction to this episode ... the casual innocent switch of port and starboard ... the let-down: "nothing to report this week" ... and then THE FOOT and impulsive laughter. What cinematographer could do better? Simply amazing. Love it!

Watching them evolve as filmmakers has been incredibly cool. KZbin has put so many talented pepole on the map in fascinating ways. I think that their choice to sail to the arctic was bold and gave them so many unique opportunities. I'm curious to see how they adapt to more well-travelled places again to keep things interesting.

As a UK citizen who's been fortunate enough to holiday in the Mediterranean since I was a kid in the 1960s and have since explored so much more of it I envy you two. You are at the start of what will undoubtedly be a year or two of amazing exploration and experience. There is just so much to be found - the history, cultures, languages, landscapes, food, architecture, people. I'm looking forward to your first impressions of places that I've known for decades, all my life. Fair winds, Uma!

So what's with the firefighters starting a search standing up? I did that stuff for about 20 years, and the way we did it was go into the smoke-filled building that we were searching in a crawl, with our arms sweeping out to each side. And one arm would always stay in contact with the wall. that way you would be able to sweep approximately a six-foot wide swath of room. Go up one side and then come back the other side, and you covered twelve-feet of room, which is usually enough to do cover the average residential room. If the room is bigger than that you would make another search with a partner and a rope. The partner would move a distance into the room, staying against the wall, and let out about six or eight feet of rope. The searcher would hold the end of the rope in one hand and "sweep" with the other arm, keeping the rope taught and using your partner as the anchor. Keep doing this after the "anchor" moved eight or ten feet farther. You would eventually cover the entire room. Keep in mind that you would be doing this in smoke so thick that, while on your hands and knees, you would be unable to see the floor. And your sense of hearing would be impeded by the nomex hood you were wearing, and your sense of feel by your thick gloves. That's why the firefighters are practicing with the masks of their breathing apparatus covered over so that they couldn't see. Also I noted that they were not wearing their backpack compressed-air bottles and regulators. Cheating! And most importantly you NEVER did this standing up! Too much probability, going in deaf and blind as you were, of tripping and falling. Then you could be injured or at least be disoriented.....and thus became just another victim. On your hands and knees you just can't fall that far. Retired now. But Damn I miss that stuff!

Having been on a number of fire departments and having instructed in interior confined space searches, my question is 'What the hell kind of search was that???'. When you enter a smoke filled room and there may be a fire and possible survivors, you get low to the floor, hold on to the ankle of the firefighter in front of you and away from the wall so that you can spread out and cover the entire floor of the place in zero visibility. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something here.
