Thank you for all the content. I`ll be touring the Balkans, Turkey and Georgia on my crf 250 rally following the TET this spring/summer and you guys have been a great help in setting up my bike. Wish you a great trip! Maybe we'll see each other on the road.

I love my Rally more each day. And that’s what’s so cool about both of these bikes, you can modify in so many ways to suit our individual needs. My remapped ECU will be here in a couple of days, can’t wait to try it out!

Loving the setup and how you guys are changing out stuff that doesn't work for better kit. Just makes me want to get out there. But it is clear what I need the most is a riding buddy.... :(

Good to hear I am not the only one with wiring problems on the grips. I am changing to thinner grips and heated elements.this time. Hopefully it will stop me getting cramp. Oxfords are awesome. Just a bit too thick. Great video. Looking forward to your adventure!

Great vid . Big capy bags .....more weight potential. Mindful packing. The bags also stick out a fair bit catching more wind .....I did same once left the front really light giving a twitchy front at speed . Looking forward to seeing the trip . Enjoy the moment.

Yep, 100% towards mindful, lightweight packing. Interesting regards the wind effect too 🤔

I was going to ask the same kinda thing, the luggage looks like it’s going to be heavy and bulky, what steps have you taken to ensure safety? As I understand it the bike has a total weight capacity of 160kgs? Have you redone the suspension to accommodate the extra weight?
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv Жыл бұрын
Hey Ian, it’s funny you should mention that, that has actually been one of todays jobs for me haha, I’ve been adjusting the YSS suspension to compensate for additional gear in the rear, so to speak 🙄

Also look at packing cubes if you like compartments. They can help organize stuff but will add one more zipper to open. Personally I prefer small textile bags of different colours inside a bigger bag. Each small bag have gear for single task so it is easier to find stuff.

This is a great point, I actually have some of the snugpak pakboxes that I use for exactly this, they’re super use l useful, and then like you I use smaller waterproof bags alongside them where needed, thanks dude 👍

@@lightweightadv I think I have it nailed. If you need any help, give me a shout. Happy to chat/ do a tutorial (can’t promise his good my know is)😂🤣😂🤣 If you are using Basecamp for plotting routes (it’s very powerful but not intuitive (a pattern here)) then I’d recommend looking at the KZbin channel EZ Moto Tim who has an excellent series of videos on how to use Basecamp.

Love it! The CRF-L gets bits added and moves towards a Rally and the Rally gets bits cut off to move towards a CRF-L! Is there a video of the Rally side panel cut for the AS pannier frames? Would settle for some close ups around the frames. Enjoy the Garmin learning experience, wait until to try Basecamp, it will drive you mad!

Just a reminder: Put your bikes on a scale and reflect on you channel name. You bolting stuff on your bikes, just like all the others and you might be already loaded up your ready-to-ride bikes above the 200/220kg mark. If you need inspiration, have a look at the long distance hikers and their mindset to cut weight.
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv Жыл бұрын
It's a fair point, but it's also worth noting that bulk doesn't equal weight. Nearly all of our kit (tent, bag etc etc) is lightweight mountain equipment (we'll show all this in another vid) and weighs next to nothing. Plus, we carry our filming gear. For adventure, luggage of some sort gets added, regardless of bike starting weight.
@SteveInskip

Interesting stuff! For me you can’t beat Mosco Moto luggage for practicality with an Adventure Spec rear rack on the back. Do you make changes to the rear shock absorbers for the increase in weight? There’s some good tutorials on KZbin for Garmin BaseCamp. I prefer Garmin for off-road on the CRF but normally use Tom-Tom on my Morini with the MyDrive Connect feature as it’s way simpler than Garmin and allows for considerable re-routing if necessary via my computer. EZ Moto Tim is an excellent KZbin channel for Garmin BaseCamp.
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve yeah there are some great luggage options out there and I suppose it’s largely about finding what works for you eh. I am able to load up the compression on the 250l as I have the YSS rear shock so I will be hardening it up a little to compensate 👍
