You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say you are going towards French Country. I love that style and I think it matches your house a lot more than the black/white. Modern is my least favorite design but I never want to try to change anyone's design style because it's so personal and up to that person to decorate in a way that makes them happy. I think you'll love it because it will bring in the aspects that you loved from the Victorian, and I think a lot of us viewers who miss the Victorian will feel more of a connection with the style you had there as well.

Hi Lauren! There's certainly nothing wrong with trying something new to see if you like it, but it's important to stay true to you. I personally think a mix of both modern and Victorian is a beautiful combination. The only piece of advice I would give would be to replace the extremely long and bulky curtains with more sleek ones with a hint of color. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! 💖💖💖

I agree with you regarding the curtains. Curtains that are too long, to me, just look poorly sized and messy. Never liked the ‘puddle’ trend. Also, I don’t like the curtains tied in the middle. IMO, drapes that hang straight to just kiss the floor are far more upscale and make the space look elegant.

I am going through the same thing. We had a home filled with antiques and a bit of French country and went to two different homes. The first our main, we had a clear idea but I still have been missing pieces, so I have let them in and loving it. The other home had no plan. The budget meant getting dark cabinets instead of white and other things made the home look really more contemporary...I started in that direction but I had to let it go French country cottage in the end because my true love of that character in pieces could not be quenched! I cannot wait to see how you incorporate your pieces. love your channel. I rarely comment because I watch on tv, but I just had to encourage your decision. your channel inspires me!❣

Yes I like the antique style..at the Victorian you mixed in a few modern pieces...so maybe have the best of both worlds..maybe mostly French antiques with a few modern pieces...I love anything lion too..like your lion painting, lamps, and lion brass statue in living room and foyer..just have fun and do what makes you happy...it can be a mix up..that is what makes it authentic to you! Lauren, I love French Country, the Victorian was always so beautiful. I love all your antique pieces. This house is beautiful ,(I don’t Want to hurt your feelings) but it’s not on the level of the Victorian as far as uniqueness. The Victorian has a lot of oooooo’s & awwwwww’s. The art work, the furniture pieces, the decor, each room was magazine worthy. I know you just moved in this home and the changes are amazing. It needs the Lauren’s Heart touches. Maybe a rug in the living room with some color. Girlfriend you are the master of decorating. Yes to your idea for decorating! Everyone has their own style. I am more traditional and l am drawn to antiques. So, I loved your old house and decor. I am not a fan of the modern/black/white but I know some are. I like to also mix up my decor for the seasons. You are always inspirational-whether it's cooking ,cleaning, or decorating! p.s. You mention on occasion getting stuff from the Victorian. Did you not sell the old house?

I think going French country will fit your home and your style well. Mixing the old with the new works well in French Country decor, especially that beautiful backyard view from all the windows. I myself have more of a French country style in our home because I love antiques but I also like re-doing furniture myself and bring in new pieces. So excited to see where you go.
