New details in missing surfers investigation

Three bodies discovered at the bottom of a water well are likely the surfers who vanished over a week ago, according to Mexican officials. The surfers, two Australian brothers and their American friend, allegedly fell victim to a carjacking gone wrong. NBC News’ Marissa Parra reports on the ongoing investigation.

Not to imply that they were ignorant to the possibility of danger in the given area... Either way, as of now (and what I believe to be indefinitely), there is no EVIDENCE of their intentions of the trip to be anything other then that. It is in some locations. Mostly in the south of Baja. There are communities of Americans along the way where they could stay in very large groups and be safe, such as in Dos Santos and such. Where they camped...was simply suicide for sure...middle of cartel territory.

I was an exchange student to Mexico summer 1970. A GF of mine in HS wanted me to go back to Mexico on a Van trip to Baja. I said No Thanks. Road Bandits tried robbing the van group and shot into the van she was riding in and a bullet missed her spine by fractions of an inch. Its sad. We used to ride bikes from TJ to Ensanada and party all weekend. Bad things happen everywhere, but some of those roads down there are pretty deserted. My guess is was the fedearalies. They always shaking tourists down for cash. They held my wife hostage while i had to go back to the US to get cash before they would let her go. Terrifying ordeal.

theres a big sign when you enter Mexico that says if your caught crossing a weapon its automatic 5 - 10 years prison and a year for each bullet. in my bordertown crossing guns from America to Mexico to sell to the cartel was a big but illegal business. You can sell 1 gun at a time or 100 guns at once either way its illegal to cross weapons.
