Incredible that so many people want Bregman on this team for big money. His numbers are declining, his walk total evaporated and he's in his 30s. He wants way too much money and way too many years, and just like with Xander, the Red Sox are 100% correct in not paying a player in their 30s for production in their 20s. That type of stupidity kills organizations. Youth is the coin of the realm. I'll take my chances with Ceddanne, Casas, Abreu, Campbell, Anthony, Duran, Grissom and Mayer. If we need a RH bat at the deadline, we can get one.
@paulscott699820 күн бұрын
If the RS dont want to pay more than 5 years 160 mil, Bregman can go back to the Astros. If Mayer would play 3B, we wouldn’t even be talking about this. We’ve got a player (Devers) who apparently doesn’t want off 3B, but for last two years has shown he’s worst 3B in the AL defensively.

Every pitcher they sign this offseason is both a bargain basement player and has had significant injury issues. This offseason has been a failure! Face it, the ownership group and management has lied once again. I for one am sick of this bs. If they were serious about spending the money they said they were going to they could have had both Max Fried and Corbin Burnes. And if they legitimately tried they could have had Hernandez. If for some reason he was adamant about being in LA they could definitely have Santander. In those three signings they would have met the needs they said they had. They would have had one of the best rotations in all of baseball. But none of that was ever going to happen because they had no intention on keeping their word. If these last four years haven't proven that they have no interest in putting the best team on the field despite what they've said. Than those of you who believe them will digest anything. Again, this offseason has been a miserable failure yet again.

I think the thing about the option is there's no way it gets picked up but I believe the dollars from the buy out would hit next year's tax instead of this year's so it's a way of spreading it out more even though it's a one year deal. As far as Bregman I think the issue is the length of contract I don't think they want to block Campbell and Anthony for that long so they would maybe go 4 years Bregman wants 6-8 and they can't come together. I think long term it's best not to have Bregman but he would help in the next two years.

I agree with your assessment that Breslow is high on Grissom Campbell and Anthony. The question mark, who is moved to make room for all three highly touted prospects and where does Mayer fit in. Campbell ID a SS 2B and CF Afully capable of hitting 300 with a 380 OBP along with 25 to 30 HR as a rookie if he breaks camp. I like the Tatis comparison with the bat and a Jim Edmonds floor in the OF. I also hears teammates say a young Barry Binds. If Campbell could play 3B or 1B everything starts to fall into place. Grissom should put up Pedey numbers with the stick. Where he falls on D is the risk. Anthony seems to be the concensus to be the ROY in 25. I like Grissom at 2B Campbell in CF with Duran and Anthony. Rafaela is the super utility player. Abreu is traded. Is Abreu traded with Mayer Hamilton Garcia to get a Keller Bubba Chandler Solometo return or will we see a Yoshi Abreu Rafaela with a C bench? I think Pittsburgh is the trade partner. Yoshi and Abreu with Arias Blaze for Chandler Ashcroft Mueth. Sox take on all but 1M in 25 9 in 26 and 4 in 27. Pirates need offense and Yoshi is a leadoff type hitter. He should thrive in that role. Abreu should be a 275 hitter with 25 HR...,Blaze is a WC but could put up better numbers than Hayes and could Boston take on Hayes deal for his D so Raffy can be moved. Arias is a future high talent SS. Boston could bet that Arias Romero Cespedes or Zanetello will be just as good as Mayer and send him instead giving Pittsburgh 3 legit bats and a WC for pitching prospects and some lower level talent. Boston eating Yoshi's deal in year one gives Pittsburgh a trade piece if he succeeds.

So my feeling from hearing multiple sources is that 1, they Sox really want to trade Casas in order to move Masa. Might be a good move if they believe he just can't stay healthy and is going to want way too much money to sign an extension at any time. Trading for Arenado might do the trick if they pay part of Masa's salary. You can then either play Arenado at first and Devers at 3rd or Arenado at 3rd Devers at DH and find a cheap option at 1B this season. They have said all along that they were not expecting to compete until 2026 anyways. If they did this they could be anticipating the FA of Gurerro Jr. Right now the whole Soto FA scenario is looking very hollow. Knowing the Mets were going to outbid everyone, they could make the $700 Million bid knowing he was not coming here. Make it look like they were willing to spend this year, but haven't done so at all. The Buelher contract being so low is another sign and the fact that the projected cap space this hear stands 20$ Million less than last year is very telling. I think that seeing one more season of the prospects working their way into the lineup and proving themselves might help make this team a more desirable place to come to. Remember as well that quiet fronts are when things tend to happen with the Sox and if you are hearing too much on a player coming here then it probably won't happen. Right now the biggest thing is to get rid of Masa to open up the roster. Keep up the great work Corbin and have a happy new year

Where are the Sox at in terms of the luxury tax? If they are already at it after the Buehler signing then they are done. If there’s still room then maybe there’s more to come. But if there are more signings to come then I think it’s gotta be in relief help and not a bat.
