You are "Diesel Creek, NY Edition"!!! LOL You are mechanical enough to tackle anything on that puppy including the rear main. It was designed for 18yo kids to be able to keep it running! Great find and I suspect it will serve you well and make you very happy 😊

It's funny -- I found a repair manual put out by the gov'ment in the 1950s for these trucks. And it pretty much describes how those 18 year olds can do most of the repairs and maintenance :)

@metaspencer the flare fitting on the side of the air filter should go to a gauge or indicator on the dash to show you when the air filter needs to be cleaned. It works by measuring the vacuum created when air cannot flow through the dirty air filter. I hope this helps. 🤓

That makes perfect sense but I never would have thought of it. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

OMGSH, I love this Truck... I'm on Marketplace right now! 🤣🤣🤣 Something about the simplicity and chill of that rig makes me want one pretty bad.. I bet I could get away with that as a Daily Driver in ol' Arkansas! 😁
@metaspencer9 ай бұрын
Daily driver all the way! I'm hoping to take it on some local jobs that need a little something "extra" haha

I remember the old M151’s at the guard unit I was in. They found that from sitting so long , rust accumulated in the fuel tank, from the condensation. It would just quit running while you drove down the road. We found the float bowls full of this rust powder in the carburetor. They got rid of all of them a short time later.

Wow, some actual experience from the field! I can see what you're talking about ... crud gets in there and it gums everything up. Hard to keep these old trucks running for sure

This is the m35 gas only engine .make sure you are at a full stop before you lock in the front axle . You can find the toolbox steps for the drivers side and on my m35a2 there is a battery box and step on the passenger side. You should get the hood shields and then there is air filter cover. I think you're truck is nice and has a lot of potential. I've heard the gas engines run great but not good on mileage. Also that is a hard top and it's ether on or off but you could get a soft top if that is what you want. I have a soft and have never had it off.
@metaspencer5 ай бұрын
Great tips man -- big thanks! I'm eager to find those steps for sure and the truck seems to be running better all the time, but I've still gotta go through the carb. Lots to do but DANG it's fun driving that truck

The multifuel m35a2 were later models. You should be able to flip the rear hubs and run single tires on the rear. Check out steel soldiers for any info you need. I have several build videos on my channel of my old m35a2c.

@nhmountains56839 ай бұрын
I grafted 30 heirloom apple varieties Saturday. 70 more to go I have around 1000 seedling trees to plant this spring. White pine, Norway spruce, white spruce, Doug fir, Dawn Redwood, chestnuts, oaks, persimmon, and those apples. I think you’d like those Dawn redwood. A guy in Vermont has some that are 30 years old. They grow fast. I have them coming g from Chief River
@metaspencer9 ай бұрын
that sounds sooooooo great@@nhmountains5683 ... I'll have to look into those Dawn redwood, haven't heard of them. I'm looking for some nice apple trees to add to the planting over here which currently looks like 100 more chestnuts and an array of firs ... that grafting sounds amazing!

@berhorst599 ай бұрын
Military trucks load rating is for cross country/offroad. On road it is doubled. 1952 had no multi-fuel engines. If that one is m-f, it is not original. However, sure looks like a carbed engine, so it would be gas.
@berhorst599 ай бұрын
Also, that's not a 2 speed rear. That is the high-low range shifter for the transfer case.
@metaspencer9 ай бұрын
High-low range! makes sense ... only one range is working so there's that :) Definitely not multifuel it's a REO gasser

Ahhhhhhhhhhh that's the weirdest wood chipper I have ever seen 🤔🤔🤔 .. Very strange 🧐🧐🧐
@metaspencer9 ай бұрын
hahaha ... it works on the principle of compaction: wood goes under the tires and the 10k of weight pulverizes everything
@Mike_Bols9 ай бұрын
If you were 45 I would say it´s a midlife crisis to get a thing like that! But you are not and so there has to be another reason for this beast. Please share! 😉
@metaspencer9 ай бұрын
Yeah you said it: I already had my midlife crisis vehicle (an old prison bus, long since sold)! haha ... So maybe this one is an aging guy needing to to see if a 72 year old truck has any pep? I mean I said just last week "No more trucks!" and then this happened. I have no solid explanation but can tell you that I've fired it up every day since I've had it just cause it calls out: "Drive me!"
