While the flat battery keeps the handle of the DeWalt slim, the shorter handles of the other two can potentially help them get into tighter places. Milwaukee got ahead of themselves with the digital direction change, it should be more accessible in all positions. I'm Team Red, but I give the edge to Bosch on this one. I would like to see how the German Metabo 12V stacks up. I've got the brushed Metabo 12V.

Bosch also wins for me because in the 12V realm I appreciate compactness and weight over anything else. And although the DeWalt is torquey and fast, the difference is not that big when you are trading in weight and dimensions. PS. I don't believe about the SDS attachment for the Bosch. It would need more torque and bigger batteries to make it work. What I'd like to see is a hammerdrill version just like the one Milwaukee sells in Europe

I just bought the Bosch Flexiclick brushless kit after using a friend's brushed one. I passed on the DeWalt mostly because of the length of it with the battery at the end of the handle, and the Milwaukee because of the reverse/lock switch location and type. I've had nothing but good luck with Bosch anyway and decided to stay with them. I have a pretty old impact driver that keeps on going and going, even when it's been abused over the years. It's about ready for new brushes, but I might just retire it, if they cost much. I bought it as a refurb about 7-8 years ago, so I got my money's worth out of it.

I'd like to make a suggestion for future tests of such tools. Take a bunch of screws and go thru the torque settings with them. From 1 to 1X they should create nice ladder from screws. This test in my honest opinion is mandatory for any drill drivers made for scrupulous tasks. My old German metabo 12v completes this test flawlessly and it's over 10 years old!

That DeWalt definitely has something going on there! I had the Bosch 10.8v hex impact and 10.8v drill many years ago (before they came out with the 12v Max) and they were good tools, got into tight spaces without much issue for under dash work in vehicles. Good to see they still have a small, but capable footprint. Milwaukee had the opportunity, but looks to me like they missed the mark, so they added niceties (magnet) and called it a day.

I have the Milwaukee and Bosch. I tend to use the Milwaukee more because I don't have any other Bosch tools, but the Bosch is more comfortable for my hand and has better finesse. The digital selector always slows me down because of the need for visual confirmation. I've learned to slightly depress the trigger to check the direction. It keeps my thumb from wasting a move to press the direction button. You actually need to press the direction button twice to change direction when neither indicator arrow is lit because the first press lights the arrow to show the direction and a 2nd press is needed to change the direction. No way Milwaukee is keeping this selector for Gen2.

Those offset attachments are game changers for cabinet installs or other millwork. I have both Bosch and Milwaukee 12v stuff. I think the Bosch is a better tool because of the ergonomics BUT the Milwaukee surge driver is probably the greatest tool I've bought in the last 5 years. Ever since I got it all my 18v drivers just sit at home. I would say if you are looking for a 12v kit and don't have any of them yet go with Milwaukee, but if you want the best tool it's the Bosch.

Good review. Thank you for comparing all three, but if you happen to read my comma on your review I have a few statements to make which also include anybody else who reads this comment and is may be trying to get a little better perspective further than white the tools are capable of well working.Though I made my decision a while back on which brand of this tool I was to have their are features that I like from two of them. I really do like the locking style of the Bosch for the attachments, however Dewalt is equally good I think I liked the Bashas more as it seemed a novelty because it was so different. That being said I have watched several reviews when this three tools started coming out until now and my own personal experience with my DeWalt that none of The reviews have completely covered is the fact that outside of DeWalt DCB118 fast charger all the other chargers will and do charge 12 V 20 V max and 60 V flex battery platforms. There is one charger I’m not 100% sure about because I have not been able to find one in my area to purchase and that is the four port charger/inverter. However with DeWalt and the way they’ve set up their battery platforms from 12 V to 60 V to charge on one single charger in the same port it makes it really nice when you go to do a cleanup and repair job where the tools you use can vary from needing to install cabinets and countertops brand new and get rid of the old to cutting up old stairs and porch railings with the different reciprocating saws all the way to running the flex fault platform for the weedeater with all the attachments that just came out and even the chainsaw and blower for flex volt. I simply pack 2 DCB115 4amp chargers and then the rest of the tools in the kit making more room for accessories when you do not need to pack three or more chargers.

Much as I like DeWalt kit (I have a lot), I jumped ship to Bosch for 12v- the battery on the end of the handle killed it for me. In-handle is the only way for 12v. What is the point of that big chunk of plastic at the front of the Milwaukee? Is it to look like a Festool? It can only hinder access...

Milwaukee’s standard M18, Rapid, and Super chargers do this too, but even better. DeWalt, they share a port, on Milwaukee, they don’t.
@chrisdurgala5548
@chrisdurgala5548 2 жыл бұрын
The thing that DeWalt actually has even a little more advantage is not only does the battery charger use one single port to charge a 12 V and 20 V max all but the DCB118 fast charger with a built-in fan can charge 12 V 20 V and the 60 V flex batteries with just one single charger and it does not take a long time to even do the 12 amp hour flex volt battery. I think honestly all the platforms should adopt that feature that you can get multiple voltage platforms of the same brand no matter what the brand and utilize one charger for the different voltage platforms. And for the Final piece of my opinion is I was Craftsman for hand tools and power tools when they were 100% USA made since then thus far for the past 20 years I have found Dewalt to honestly be the most durable and interchangeable throughout the generations.
@luisinhoens90
@luisinhoens90 Жыл бұрын
@@reaperreaper5098 The thing is at least on the standard and Rapid chargers you won't get both an M12 and M18 battery charged at the same time. These are sequential chargers, and that's not necessarily better than a single DeWalt charger that can charge both 12V and 20V batteries out of a smaller footprint. Then, the Rapid charger maxes out at 4.5 amps for an M12 battery while let's say a 6 amp DeWalt charger will charge both the 12V and 20V batteries at the same current
@reaperreaper5098
@reaperreaper5098 Жыл бұрын
@@luisinhoens90 I'd argue that sequential chargers are better than DeWalt's combo port charger, as it'll still automatically switch over when both ports are occupied. No human intervention required. I'd also argue that while having a 6A charger charge a 12V battery at 6A is convenient if you're chewing through the juice, it's a net negative for the vast majority of people as faster and faster charging methods are more likely to damage the battery and they're not using up the charge of the 2-5Ah batteries fast enough for that fast charge to matter.
@luisinhoens90
@luisinhoens90 Жыл бұрын
@@reaperreaper5098 agree with the first part of your comment although I'm still suspicious about the side effects of fast charging. See, Makita only builds 2.5 and 9 amp 18V chargers, yet there are no widespread issues of failing batteries within a short time. And the 9 amps are way more popular than the slower chargers. Also both 4.5 amps and 6 amps are considered fast charging, both being potentially harmful for battery life in the long run, then why don't take the quicker charging instead?

If you adjust the head for the offset, you can actually have enough space to switch on reverse. No one is going remember that though. If you re-do that test, maybe Milwaukee can get it closer to the wall than the others but you will have a hard time taking out the drill bit.

@@MasteringMayhem no tool is perfect. The m12 doesn’t really have much in terms of clutch setting range. You can but they fail pretty easily. The right angle adapters will not handle very much torque

@@eliteoutdoor7203 They also get hot fast. A double whammy of cooked grease leaking and being very uncomfortable to hold.

No because: 1. They suck 2. You'd still need an offset attachment 3. You'd still need the space for the drill head

Cool video, Glad to see all the installation setups, - since you do have an INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE get a tape that has both METRIC and IMPERIAL , and announce both measurements, Ex: such as 8 inches or approx. 203.mm (or 20.3cm) - in fact I would recommend everyone switch to metric when wood working etc… its laughable how the tolerances basically disappear when doing work…(remember to leave a tick if in a humid area for wood work) The amount of time saved on every project is immeasurable and time is bank! (no time spent trying to figure out the fractions at all, and yeah took me over 40 years to realize i should have been doing this all along, believe me you will laugh at yourself the first time you use it and never look back, every finely crafted precision machine, vehicle, tool or whatever is built using metric and there is a reason why!) - Big reds offset from the wall is perfect, too close causes splitting or blowout defeating the purpose. CONGRATS on 10K !!! I remember when it was a dream to get to 1000 ! time flies don’t it?

While I agree that Metric has advantages, you are conflating metric and decimal. Most of the benefit is in using decimal rather than vulgar fractions, the base unit is largely irrelevant. One could work in decimal inches with little downside. Which is what engineers have always done, using thousandths for sub inch units. Some (not I) would argue that it is better; who has not confused cm and mm in dimensions? (Yes, cm are deprecated in technical use, but they are common).

While these kits are clever, when a drill is required for nearly any project, you invariably need the driver as well. Constantly switching heads to me would be an absolute buzz kill.

That digital direction switch on the Milwaukee is probably the dumbest decision I've seen on a powertool, in a long time... Everyone who's even a little bit familiar with using a power drill has the muscle memory of using the index finger to switch direction, because it's been the standard of the industry since forever. That Milwaukee just seems way too fiddly.

Bosch sucks. The trigger of that model broke with only light use. This is the second Bosch tool that broke this month. I'm not a heavy user.

These tools are not for construction period. These are for light duty around the house or garage. I have to laugh when they try to push These to do something they are not capable of doing. Keeping them long screws and the batteries will die quick. Be real.
