I would be wary of going down the path of a bigger radiator.. I previously had a pwr radiator and dt79a thermostat.. the radiator split at the end tanks and the dt79 thermo is no where near as good as the stock thermo. The pwr radiator lacks the flex/forgiveness that the stock radiator has with plastic end tanks. And high flow water pumps just cause cavitation issues and other problems. It's also been proven (hundreds of pages on forums) that the best set up to keep a td42 cool (not many need the following but nonetheless a good preventative) is: 1. Standard thermostat 2. Standard radiator 3. Quikazz/ufi fan upgrade 4. Stock or derk water pump. 5. Flush the shit out of the cooling system. 6. Make sure fan shrouds and associated pieces aren't missing 7. Foam between radiator and front reo (basically seal areas around radiator) 8. Genuine 1.1 bar radiator cap and blanking cap (common mistake is some people run two pressure relief caps).. Blanking cap goes on radiator and relief cap on overflow tank. My td42 runs cooler with the above mods than it did with the pwr radiator and dt79 thermostat. TD42s often get hot when people run big tyres and big boost without supporting mods such as diff gears changed to match bigger tyres and the cooling stuff I mentioned above. There are plenty of TD42s towing upwards of 2.5 - 3 tonne on 40 degree days for weeks at a time who never see over 90 degree water temps.. You just need to be smart about it and not get lured into big flashy mods which look appealing (bigger radiators and high flow water pumps) that tend to do more harm than good.

Great video but for clarity, not all TD42’s get hot. Mine which I bought new is Dec 2006 built, I have towed 2.5 T caravan in summer (max temp was around 43 degrees) and it never over heats. True a lot do overheat but not all. Tuning is a big factor plus many other factors.

bad maintenance will cause cooling issues on a TD42, regularly flush and change coolant and you will have no worries. Later models are more robust again so I gather. The fact the engine has been tuned and modified means you should upgrade the cooling system. It's a load of bull to suggest all TD42's overheat, there is about as much truth in that as saying all Toyotas never break down🤣 super looking truck!

Nice build throw a big radiator a high flow water pump qikazz fan and a dt79a thermostat you will never have a kettle issue. Oh and the higher pressure radiator cap 1.3 bar.

If the gu was stockish it would be good to learn how to drive it and 4wd, as you can learn more about wheel placement, how to drive a slower car in traffic (let face it a stock TD anit fast 🤣🤣) better then having 37s and 300hp 🤷‍♂️
