I used to do downwind kite trips from new Smyrna beach to Daytona beach and take the bus back, thats before Uber was around, 20 years ago. Larry

awesome shape on that board! i'm getting materials ready to build my own soon, always nice to see what other riders have built themselves.

Thanks alot @ watermancallum it’s nice to know there are a few people out there who are building their own boards.

Yesssss! Lance, you are so influential that I will shape one too! I have been seeing how these narrow and thick boards are so good for downwind but coincidentally they also excel in light wind conditions. Man, I am obsessed with foiling so I need to get on the foil anyway that I can. This is the way! Can't wait to see your downwind footage! 🤙🤙
@Lanceisoutside Жыл бұрын
@jeromesurffoil7033 thanks mate! Glad i can influence at least one person here 🤙🏽 😆. Yea these boards are something special man. When i used it winging the other day in light winds (13-15mph) once i got to my knees and powered up the hand wing the board wanted to just shoot right up on foil immediately! Didn’t have to pump the board or wing at all to engage it. I look foward to seeing your board build. Im trying to find someone to beg to get some drone footage of me doing a downwinder. Hopefully soon!

@@Lanceisoutside I wonder how well one of those Auto-Follow Drones would work for that? Although, the battery life would be a major issue.

nice work, great foil high at the end! They'll build a statue of you someday foiling the seas

Thanks Michael. Love a good foil high. Especially a downwinder. A statue would be epic haha! Hopefully some day.

Love the board design! Can you share the specs on it? Also, is that the GoFoil PNL 185 front wing you are using? If so how do you compare it to the newer P 1150HA wing? Thanks Chuck
@Lanceisoutside8 ай бұрын
I appreciate it, Chuck! Board is 8’5 x 18 inches x 6 inches thick. Front wing is a prototype P-15 wing. I think 1500 cm. Huge wing. Amazing low end and pump. comparing the pnl185 to the new 1125 ha- Pnl more surfy feeling and easier to use/control. Excellent pump and turning. Lots of lift. About 36inch wingspan and 8 inches cord. Ha1125 is like a glider wing. Superior pumping, glide and lift for its size. 48 inch wingspan and like 6 inches of chord or cord. With the large wingspan, Turning has to be just a bit wider and slower. Can breach wingtips and recover no problem. I can pump this wing forever. And it glides on nothing. All gofoil wings are good.

Hi Lance, Am working on designing my own board to build similar to yours. Am curious as to how much tail rocker you did on this board and how far forward does it start from tail end of bottom surface? Thanks, Chuck!
@Lanceisoutside5 ай бұрын
@chuckr3398 howdy, Chuck. I have 25 inches of gradual tail rocker from rear to back of tracks. My only suggestion to you is dont make it as narrow as mine. 18.5 inches. It’s a bitch to balance on for me. Lots of side to side wobble.
@Lanceisoutside5 ай бұрын
@chuckr3398 hi chuck. I guess my comment didn’t post? Dont see it here. I have 25 inches of tail rocker from back of board to the back of the foil tracks. I wish i made this board wider. 18.5 too narrow and tippy!

What's your Paddle length for DWSUPF compared to your height? You can take a BBQ lighter and melt the tips of your cut Paracord so it doesn't fray.
@Lanceisoutside Жыл бұрын
@IRWE905 My paddle length is 6 ft 4 inches. Same as my height. For me, its perfect for DWSUPF and paddling into waves at the beach. Sometimes i wish it was a couple inches shorter when i paddling into certain types of waves at the beach. I take my top hand down off the handle a few inches and have it on the shaft to paddle for a wave if i need to get a faster cadence in to get on the wave. Thanks for the lighter tip on the paracord. I normally do that with my knots but kinda forgot when i used it on my life jacket. Lol now im gonna have to fix that it looks sloppy haha. Thanks!!

so sick! Did you vacuum bag it when glassing?

im blow away haha. you hot-coated it too? Any tips on finding a piece of eps that big?
@Lanceisoutside Жыл бұрын
@@jakedavid2523 multiple hot coats! The foam is 1 lb density EPS foam that i got from “ABC supply” they come in rectangles that are 4ft by 2ft by 6 inches thick. Glued a couple together and cut it out with a hacksaw. They are normally used for stucco roofing insulation. The only ABC supply location that i can get them at are in McAllen, Texas.
