Austin, I'm soooo thrilled you're back! You were instrumental for me as a reference when I was working as a full time drummer, especially how you recorded drums and setup Logic. Now I'm a full time banjo player, and still reference your recorded sounds and setups for recording. Your clarity, precision and feel are inspiring. Even though I'm working in the melodic space as a string player, my favorite musicians are STILL drummers...like you! Wishing you happiness and good fortune in your new digs. Much love from Cape Ann, Tommy
Congrats Austin. This place is absolutely gorgeous 😮😮

Yes !! Informative AND interesting. Always loved your content and your calm, knowledgeable teaching style. I literally have 100 things to say, but I want to boil it down to this: On the subject of health, sound engineers being out of shape, and stand-up desks… Several years ago I did an experiment (over about a weeks time) where I would sit down at my desk, paying close attention to what my body was feeling, and then stand up whenever “it told me to”. I would jot down the time and go back to mixing (still trying to pay close attention to what my body was telling me). I would stand, sit down, stand up, and continued that process, always jotting down the time. After a week I went back and averaged out all of the times and hilariously it was 17 minutes. 🤣 I know we are all physiologically different, but in my case every 17 minutes my body wanted a change. So instead of raising and lowering my desk 10,000 times a day, I just left it in the standing position and bought a drafting chair. Now, whether I am standing or sitting… my head is always within an inch of the same height. For the first month or two I would set a 20 minute timer, but that was years ago; now I am very used to “listening to my body”. And another fringe benefit is that when I’m standing, I can use the drafting chair to plop one leg up on and stretch… so it really makes a nice active work environment instead of being the traditional sedentary engineer. Thanks again for all of your amazing information over the years, congratulations on your beautiful new studio, and also for the big move !!!! I am a drummer first (MI honor grad as well 😉), songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and budding engineer/ producer, so you have been a great inspiration and amazing source of knowledge. Cheers Steve
