Love my Echo equipment too! I have a trimmer, a blower and a chain saw. My blower has given a bit of a problem, but a carb. rebuild kit solved that. My CS-301 chain saw has been a real treat. Always get use out of it and just used it to take down a tree at my girlfriends home. Had it limbed and down in 30 minutes. Thanks!

I also have cs 590 and cs 310 chainsaws that were bought 4 years ago and love them. Both easy to start and comfortable to use. Hoping to get a blower next. My Stihl backpack blower takes an 1/2 hour to start everytime couldn't even find someone to buy it on Craigslist. Thanks for watching.

I posted a comment on your video over 3 years ago and I was having a lot of shoulder pain from weed eating all day long in my company and I’m here in Miami fla that it’s none stop mowing I decided to give the Srm225 a try man best thing I ever did my shoulders feel so much better cause all I was using was echo srm 266 T and 2620T and 3020T heavy trimmers yes a lot of power but they were destroying my shoulders now I have 7 srm225 and srm2320 these trimmers are holding up so well it’s unbelievable also saving in gas aswell my guys love them as well for well maintained lawns like weekly’s a by weekly you don’t need much more power and we are taking probably a little less time trimming cause my guys and I don’t get as fatigue as when your using a havier trimmers in 100 digree weather people under estimate the 225 cause it holds up commercial work really well we do 75 to 80 properties a week.

Looking at buying a SRM225 off of Craigslist for $100. and looks to be almost new. I have a couple of Echo chainsaws, the CS-590-24" Timber Wolf and a little CS-310 for limbing trees. I've owned Macks and Stihls and a Homelite and all of them were problematic at least once a year. The Echo saws are trouble free with the TruFuel and I just bought a PB-250LN leaf blower for $75. used like new and it's a dream to use. Next will be an Echo pruner when I find the right deal... Echo machines start better than most other machines. Nice video.

Bought a house 3 years ago. Got a ryboi trimmer as a gift. 1year later its done took it back. Replaced it with a top of the line troy built, I was in a rush. 2years later and lots of warranty repairs, I talked them into giving me a refund. I have an Echo pas 225 on the way! I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

My mom just gave me her srm 225 a few days ago, figuring out how to adjust the carb was the hardest part, since it’s a barrel carb and not the usual type, but once I turned the high speed needle out a quarter turn, she ran mint, and it’s a heck of a weed whacker for free!

I purchased one of these a few days ago based on your experience in this video. Did not know anything about Echo equipment, but others have good reports about this model as well, so can't wait to try it out in the next few days. What sold me was the easy way to string it up compared to the one I have now, but I also need something to deal with heavy grass, light brush, and brambles on my 3.5 acres. The blade kit looks to be difficult to get on and off, so I can see why you have two with one set up with a blade.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 6 жыл бұрын
I take care of 10 acres with mine and love them. They are not overly powerfull but are the perfect ballance of power and weight for my needs. Just use high test gas and buy a tube of the gearbox grease. The blade changeover is a pain if you do it often. They also make a split shaft version that allows instant change over but costs 2x as much. It takes a while to get used to how fast the unit revs with the blade. I like the 3 wing cutter the best. Good luck with yours. Thanks for watching.

I think Echo rocks. We ran a few of their 590, 400, and 310 chainsaws on 2 shifts non-stop for more than 2 months in order to clear debris left by Hurricane Maria down in San Juan. The city crews had Stihls, of course, but these were added given the monstrosity of the job. Let me tell you, the Echos killed it...guys were like 'hot damn!". Zero mechanical issues in 100% emergency recovery ABUSE. I'm definitely an Echo believer and home-use customer now as well.

Speaking of that "canned fuel" - I've been using "TruFuel" mixed ~50/50 with pump gas in all my 2- and 4-stroke equipment for the last 7 years and I have to say that I'm impressed by the stuff. ALL my small engines still look and run like new (Honda mower and Hitachi leaf blower and weed-wacker mostly used). Home Depot puts it on sale about every 18 months and I buy a case of each and that lasts me perfectly from sale to sale. I recommend it highly. My string trimmer is dying this season (it won't run at less than full throttle and I can't figure out why) so I will have to look at these Echos - they look like good stuff. Thanks for the video.

You may want to pull the muffler and check for carbon. I go through many gallons of fuel each year and just run high test with or without ethanol depending how far I want to go. I always add marine Stabill to the can. The Echo trimmers and chainsaws don't seem to mind it. My Honda trim mower will run good on anything. These Echos just run extremely smooth and start very easy compared to the Stihl they replaced. I go through about 60 gallons of diesel and 25 gallons of gas a year in yard equipment so l am not very fussy. Thanks for watching.

I've been mowing over 100 lawns a week for 10 years and I have been using the Echo 225's for at least 4 years now. These machines are just as good if not better than the commercial grade deal I had been buying. Your problem is more than likely carbon buildup in your exhaust port. Take the muffler off and use a thick flat head but beware of scratching the piston. Oh yeah, pull the screen off the muffler. Think it requires 3 screws.

Well Hillbilly I bought the weedeater last thursday.My son mowed with the riding mower and I ran the Echo weedeater for 2 Hours.For a small 21cc motor that Echo will cut just keep it reved up good.Some grass around the storage shed was 2 feet high.I cut it in the middle first then to the bottom and then even lower.It was no stopping that Echo trimmer its a cutting machine for sure!We were really glad we bought it.My arms were sore the next day for sure after over 2 hours of hard cutting.So Decided I need a Harness.Ended up ordering a Limbsaver strap from Amazon coming today.Had a hard time finding a decent harness hanger like yours the few I found were really expensive.So the best one I found for a cheap price I got a Arnold harness for 8.00 with the Hardware to use I can mount on the Echo shaft to use with the Limbsaver Harness.Home Depot here in Virginia is my Echo dealer for all of the products and well stocked!Thanks again for the Video and I would say to any one else this is a great Weedeater to buy for sure.With my chainsaw and weedeater both by Echo am sticking with that Brand for sure just good products and reliability!

Thanks for the review. I have been considering either this Echo or the similarly priced Husqvarna model. I think I may go with the Echo, when my little Ryobi finally quits. I noticed your deck boards are a little chipped. I have had excellent luck with the "Behr Deckover". Pretty pricey but a good product. Still have to due the proper prep-work, but seems like it's going to hold up better than the other stuff I've used in years past.

I have had excellent luck with my Echo products and if you read the comments everyone else has also. I looked into the deck over for my front deck and was told with it having direct sunshine deckover was not the best choice and if there was a problem with the finish in a couple years your on your own. Shoveling snow is tough on any finish around here and the stain can just be touched up. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for your video, like you I have two SRM 225s 2018 and 2019 one with the string trimmer head and one with the Echo 8 inch blade. One of them needed a new carburetor in less than a year "note the 5 year warranty did not cover the carb" But I had used it to edge all my beds by holding the string head perpendicular to the ground. Talked to Echo they said that might have been the cause. Bought both of these and a Echo blower from a big box store, couldn't afford the STIHLS and after your review gladI I couldn't. Even with the carb replacement cost still got two good pieces of equipment for less than the cost of one STIHL. Really like the Echos as your reported they are comfortable, not overpowered for my residential use. The 8 inch blade makes fast work of leveling wet day lilies and ornamental grass that just tied tied up the line feed. I use Echo Red Armour 50:1 pre mix in all my Echos. It is really expensive ($25 a gallon) but when I want the equipment to start I know the fuel is good stuff. Thanks for your review

Perfect timing! I AM looking for a trimmer and the not-terribly-helpful guy at HD recommended the Echo. I wanted to buy one because they are made about 20 miles from where I live. I was not sure a string trimmer can go through the pasture weeds we have, but the blade that you showed just might! Glad to know that it has reliable start. Pulling those string start motors are really hard for me. Now, answer me this: will it cut through weeds like goldenrod and milkweed? TIA!

Get from a dealer like I did who will register your warranty and test run it for you.At home depot they give it to you in a box.Used mine today for the first time. 5 stars love 3cho products.Do not buy Stihl.

When you buy from a dealer they will take good care of you if problems arise ,and they make sure it starts and runs properly. Mine cuts through cattails and pond reeds no problem but you may be better off if you get the split shaft pas version if you plan on changing between a blade and string head often. Talk to a dealer and see what they recommend for your yard.

Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations The 225 comes in several versions,, standard curved shaft,easy start curved shaft, curved shaft bump head then theres the srm 225 straight shaft at 199.00. I really like my straight shaft with speed feed head.I think the guard could be bigger as it slings stuff in your face easily.

The straight shaft is for taller users and has better reach to get under trees. That is why I bought that face screen. My Stihl had a bigger shield and threw up just as much debris so I don't think size matters.

Great review as always. I am still in the market for a new gas string trimmer. I'll have to go the store and try this one on. Most are SO heavy and too long for women unless they are very tall. That is why I switched to battery powered but I have to go through 3 or 4 batteries to get the job even partly done. Once I get that dirty, I just want to keep going -- but have to stop and recharge batteries. I DO know plenty of women do all the mowing and weed-wacking (at least in the country) yet NONE of the manufacturers have a single model geared toward us. It's like socks... you have to be happy with one size fits all. The curved shafts are cheaper and lighter BUT I find them very awkward to hold.

Both of mine still work good and start easy. Best thing is find a local echo dealer and look at the different models. They are all side by side so you can get an idea if they are comfortable for you. Dealers should be able to set you up with a strap, start it up to see it is tuned right, and show you how to refill the line. I have been using the dewalt 20v one I bought last summer around the house to keep fumes down and hate using it the way it strains my back. I use the echos out in the yard and prefer them. I think you are one of the few women left that is strong enough to do their own weed whacking on a larger area. Good luck finding one that fits you. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Thanks! HAha I tell myself everyday that I am super woman but age does start creeping up and there is so much to trim that I am almost crippled the next day. I bought a Southland wheeled string trimmer to try last summer but returned it. It was just too awkward to maneuver around. IF I could talk to my younger self I would say be kinder to your shoulders and knees. My power equipment dealer advised me when I bought my 225 from him that it is not really designed in the long term for using a brush blade on it. Seems that the brush blades induce more shocks to the cutting head gears and bearings than when weed whacking and those shocks over an extended enough time will take it's toll. He said the unit is not designed for extended brush cutting.

Mine didn't say anything 4 years ago when l bought the changeover kit. Just said to keep it greased. The black marine stabilizer is the best stabilizer for any fuel containing ethanol. Not sure what the difference is between the SRM225 and the SRM230, but I own the 230. Until this year it started ad ran fine. This year it refused to run on anything more than part throttle. Echo has discontinued so many parts that it's getting difficult to find replacements for a 6 year old machine. My local dealer didn't have a diaphragm kit and couldn't order one until he got a minimum order together. Ordered a diaphragm kit from direct from Echo, still waiting two weeks later. Purchased a new Zama carburetor off of eBay and received 3 days later. 5 minute replacement time and a couple of pulls of the starter and I'm running again. Echo makes nice equipment, but with the junk fuel offered today, as my lawn equipment goes toes up, it's going to be replaced with electric tools. Started last year with the handheld blower with a Milwaukee blower and haven't looked back.

The 225 is a fantastic machine, I wouldn't expect the 230 to be much different. Thanks for watching.

I run high test in all my small engines. Most modern ones don't need it but the older ones really need it to perform right. Mine have been great also. Thanks for watching.

If you read the comments all but one person love theirs. I think that one comment is from a Stihl troll. Just use fresh gas and grease the gearbox every once in a while. If you have a local dealer I would buy from them. Thanks for watching.

Ther start easier, run with less vibration, have lower costs maintenance parts, and use less fuel then my old Stihl equipment. I would not go back. Thanks for watching.

Stihl equipment seems to get out performed by lower power equipment from other manufacturers.

When I turn my SRM 225 over counter clockwise to edge it stalls out. But if I turn it over clockwise to edge it still runs. Anyone else have this issue?

Is it the gas filter location in the tank causing it. Try pushing it to the other side of the tank, Thanks for watching.

Did you buy it from a small dealership or Home Depot? Mine throws in extras and lets you bring it back for a tune once broken in. Big box stores don't do that. Thanks for watching.
