Even today at 52 I’m still one of their biggest fans. I’m looking forward to seeing them in March at The Prudential Center in Newark. This would be my 10th time seeing New Edition live. I was in 5th grade when this came out in 1984. Cosby show premiered also in 1984. Michael Jackson Thriller was on the top of the chart for so many weeks from 1983-1984. Lionel Richie's All NIght Long and Hello and Donna Summers Hard for the Money were displayed alot on the early days of Music Television. Whitney Houston arrived on the charts in 1985. All the kids were moon walking or break dancing and it wasn't considered rebellious nor counter culture. Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Kool in the Gang, Irene Cara, Tina Turner, Sade, Kool and the Gang, Prince, Pointer Sisters... list goes on and on. The image of Black America in the 80s portrayed in the media were generally positive. What happened?

He and Johnny picked up the rights and currently split ownership of the new edition name and to the rest of the groups credit tho they have some kind of way abt this (Who wouldn’t?) they said the very least they could have done is to gift their longtime choreographer and manager Brook Payne have at least a third.. I was 12 when this song was released. I listened to it intently each time it played on the radio, with one purpose, to get Ralph's rap down pat. Don't get me wrong I love this song, btw! It always brings me back to the days of playing out in front of our house, riding Big Wheels around! Whenever I play this on my DJ set up at my house when there is a party, I would grab the mic and rap that part in a high pitched voice. The embarrassed look on my oldest daughter's face while her little brother and sister watch and laugh...🤣🤣🤣priceless! While my wife is laughs hysterically.
