In the back back days there were Black records and charts and white records and charts. MJ was the first real crossover artist with Thriller. He had to fight to get on MTV. Finally his record company threatened to pull its white performer off the channel. One color line broken. I'm old enough to remember all this so it didn't surprise me to hear him say No. 1 Black record.

Your point is valid but Motown had crossover artists like the Temps and the Supremes before Mike. MJ may have been the biggest but he wasn't the first.
@kapesquire
@kapesquire 4 жыл бұрын
I think the difference is that the 'white charts' were not called 'white'. They were just the charts. Or were named for Rock and Country and Pop and were not named for a color. So it makes it seem like the Black Charts were segregated and black artists were restricted (even though George Michael was on there).

Ralph had a mustache in the beginning check it out when they did Candy girl on American Bandstand my baby was born with one. He was so cute as a little guy with his. I love to watch them when they were kids Brook really groomed these little they were and still are professionals he promised them that he’d make them pros, but he also went beyond his promise he made them famous. Brooks is a a beautiful God loving soul, very rare a specially in those day when men didn’t show their love for God because they thought it made them seem like they were not men. How dumb they were I’m 80 I’ve come through it all. Speaking from experience..not hear say, been and is a true NE Life fan. My children are also grow all with them also great 👍 musicians and entertainers

I didn't know guys wore belts on the outside of their shirts back in the eighties/ this is my first time actually seeing this style on anybody from the eighties that's male/ I see Bobby wasn't feeling that look either and refused to put that belt on over his shirt and put a sweater on instead. He probably exchanged outfits with Ralph. and Ralph probably did it just so they could go on in peace and be on time for their performance. I could see that happening lol. nevertheless I still love them and I still love the performance but I just want to reach back in time and take them dam belts off them boys from the outside of their shirts

I don't recall guys wearing their belts like that in the 80"s, however I can definitely remember wearing my belts like that in the 80's as well as now. Don't know who got that twisted. It looks straight female.

I love this performance just to educate most of the younger people back then nobody was ashamed of being black we didn’t need to be people of color minorities or urban.

The music sounds a lot like Ray Parker Jr.'s "A Woman Needs Love" because he wrote it.

Read somewhere (many moons) ago Ray Parker wrote and or produced it and was supposed to sing it but because it was too "A Woman Needs Love", he didn't.
