New EMD FL9

The GVRR finally got one of their two recently acquired FL9 units running. Here is locomotive 2016 on its third run from Grapevine to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. Traffic was horrible so I couldn't get it in Haltom City so I went straight to Tower 60 to see it and then the Stockyards. Enjoy!

Wow... that's crazy that they already have one of the FL9s up and running again, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Although, as great as that K5LA sounds on it, imagine how great it would be if they could somehow outfit it with a Hancock Air Whistle like it had in it's New Haven days.

That F unit has come a long way from commuter service in the Northeast! Hopefully she will have a nice life in the Texas sun, away from those snowy winters.

Nice FL9 is it going to replace the GP-7 "Vinny" or are they going to keep it. How much FL9's do they own? Nice video Surfliner 6905 love your videos. Is that a K5LA or some other type of K5 horn. Sounds very good.

The GP7 is going to get repainted and they own two FL9s. The second one is going to be put into service sometime soon and 2016 has a K5LA and 2014 has a RS5T.

Two bad it's no longer Dual Mode. Sort of removes the uniqueness of the FL9 other than the K5LA (and Hancock) and HEP generator.
