Good result on that engine Steve. You went the right way about it doing the proper checks so you don’t get stuck with a stolen lump or one off a boy racer. I think you cooling issue with the air con rad really didn’t help. Might have been ok if the car wasn’t tuned and on a track but that extra power and driving style needs all the cooling it can get. I’d air con delete it and not worry but you probably want it left in 🤷♂️ it’s only good for the summer anyways.

Great video man! You mentioned the clunk when you change gears. Here in the states at least it is because the stock lower motor mount has so much play that the motor hits the firewall. I can t remember if you've changed that, you probably have. for all those people new to Fiesta ST's that should be your first mod. Keep up the good work steve. I always get complements on my Fast N Old t-shirt.
@Sparkplugsteve3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for buying a shirt. 👌 The mount clunk is a different issue. This clunk is just from gentle driving and shifting. To make the mount bang you have to really hit it hard. It is also impossible for the engine to hit the firewall. If it did you would have some serious carnage of other parts it would destroy in its way.

Most likely reason in my opinion is that North American Fiestas were built in Mexico and Ford did not want to tool up for three separate body styles at that plant (we got the 5 door hatchback and the awful sedan/saloon which bafflingly sold well). If not that, I think the developers were trying to broaden the appeal of the car to as many buyers as possible. The Fiesta is a very tiny car by American standards and it's already a hard sell to most buyers. They probably thought not having rear doors would make the situation worse. However, I don't think it matters; the people who aren't interested in the Fiesta disregard it due to its size and aren't gonna buy it two doors, four doors, or otherwise.

Steve I know you probably don’t want to be told this but that engine on a s280 is on borrowed time...they simply can’t take the power reliably...at a minimum it should have had shims installed. I don’t care what any tuner says these engines are being pushed too hard...they simply don’t want to inform people of the risks because it would hurt their pockets. I’ve been through it all due to failure and spent the money on a forged/sleeved build...
@Sparkplugsteve3 жыл бұрын
I did consider shims but some of the best engine guys and tuners told me the shims are pointless in these engine. I don't think they work as well as they go on the focus engine. It may blow again at some point and I'm not naive to that. But it will be what it will be. 😁
@ziffbobbit3 жыл бұрын
@@Sparkplugsteve I really hope it doesn’t and you get some good use out of it. Can’t say I believe what you’ve been told about the shims not working as well, it’s almost identical to the focus. But even on the focus they aren’t guaranteed, they still oval eventually, just pot luck how long it lasts. I guess if you can keep changing the engine it’s not too bad...maybe 3 times until it gets to a full build in terms of cost😄 Either way love the vids you do 👍🏼 good luck.
