Well, that’s the way to respond to a thrashing at the weekend. Vrioni, have yourself a half. Two clinical finishes. The first one a lovely bit of skill, and the second a tidy volley set up by a great ball from Noel Buck. Probably should have had a hat trick if not for a couple of spurned chances and a marginal offside call. For those wondering, they said he was “leaning” over the halfway line. It’s frustrating for sure, but didn’t matter in the end. Ivacic as well, what a game. Unlucky to not have a clean sheet, but he had two massive saves to save a sleepy defense right before the half. A word of appreciation as well for Noel Buck with a beautiful ball to set up that second goal. I really hope that this run of games, however long it is without Carles Gil, shows Caleb Porter why he should be in the starting 11 every week. Speaking of someone who will be in the starting 11 every week, Dylan Borrero had a great 60+ tonight. He’s still working his way back to top fitness to be able to put in a full 90, but he really gave Atlanta problems down the left. Our defense did look vulnerable at times, but it was much improved from the game against Columbus, and Dejuan and Henry Kessler in particular had good games. Again, a great three points and that’s 5 wins in 6! From an Atlanta point of view, it’s crazy to hear what the club is going through right now. We’ve certainly had our fair share of players leave for Europe / other countries, such as Petrovic, Turner, Buchanan, and Buksa, but not all at the same time! First Giakoumakis, then Almada (apparently), and maybe Wiley, plus a new coach, all in the same summer window. Wild. Hopefully they can get a good DP in and a few other players, because that amount of talent all leaving at the same time is insane.

They said Vrioni was “leaning” over the halfway line. It’s dumb, but it’s how the rule is written, not the fault of the refs. Happens all the time in Europe.

@@Alex_J6 Yeah it makes sense. Any part of you that can score can be considered offside. Head/shoulder etc. His feet were clearly onside but it makes sense as he was leaning over the line. Very close though and would feel unfair as the attacking player i suppose.

That was literally the worst offside call ever. . .
@Alex_J66 ай бұрын
They didn’t explain it well in the highlights, but they said he was “leaning” over the line so technically he was offside. I hate it too, but it’s how the rule is written. Luckily it didn’t affect the outcome. If you want to see something really bad, look up Luis Diaz’s “offside” goal against Tottenham. That was easily the worst I’ve seen😂

Much better from New England since the summer started, but still, we need to understand that Atlanta has one of the worst squads in their short lived existence in the MLS, and just after Almada leaving! Still Vrioni and Ivacic making the difference today
