Join our IFR (instrument flight rules) departure from beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine to Mount Washington, New Hampshire where we luck out right over the top of the airport and get the airport in sight to circle down for a visual approach. We show our stay at the Omni Mount Washington Resort and ride up to the top on the historic Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Next time you take a trip to (Tax free) New Hampshire, Go over to North Conway for the night. They have a Ben&Jerry's that is conveniently located next to the Conway Scenic Railroad. About a mile south of the CSRR is the Muddy Moose. A great place to eat. Go early. The line out front starts around 5pm.

WE did the COG at MT Washington a few years ago, did you get mooned? Hikers moon the COG because of the smoke. On our way up past Jacobs Ladder I see a girl standing in front of 4 guys who have their backs to the rail....and yup, they drop trow while she takes a snap.....I’m thinking come on...come on (she was gorgeous), and yup, she turns and down the went.......a gasp was heard on the train but over come by one voice saying .....YESSSSSSS!!!! My wife Tammy and I took the Cog Train up to Pike's Peak several years ago on our bike trip to Colorado. What a cool way to see the mountains and lakes no-one else gets to see. Someone asked the conductor as we were in a 30% uphill grade at 12000 ft. "What happens if the brakes fail?" She replied that there were two large springs that would stop the train! "COLORADO SPRINGS AND MANETOU SPRINGS"!! Lol. Glad you kids are enjoying life together.....God Bless!

I been told you can see Bar Harbor from Mt. Washington on a real clear day that is 50 miles what I recall. I think I would do the cog and not deal with the hairy drive next time. Yeah my fishing friend went up the road about 40 years ago and when he got where there were no more trees, it scared him so bad, he turned around and went down. I still have a little stuffed moose from there. 231 miles per hour, recorded April 12, 1934 by Observatory staff.

Is that Wheaton-Warrenville? I don't think they were split when we were living there. Of course both our kids went to West Aurora, as we lived on the west side. S-i-L was a vice president of Omni for several years, and that resort was one of his particular charges. Located in Bretton Woods, which was the site of an international conference in 1944 which set monetary policy based on the gold standard amongst the delegates' nations. It's no longer in effect, but you were in a highly historic place. Also, my father, brother, and I hiked a nearby section of the Appalachian Trail back in 1962 (Crawford Notch to Franconia Notch).

@@misryluvsco8169 - Well, depends on a lot of factors. I do know a handful of people who are scared to drive up it (even as passengers). My guess is they get scared being close to the edge - and close to other passing cars on certain parts of the road. I think it is a nice challenge and easy to do as long as you take your time and don’t get intimidated. Hiking up and down is a full day and I have seen hikers with different physical capabilities succeed. Just be prepared for various weather conditions and it can be done.

Used to get goosebumps hearing that thing chuff up the mountain. Just about all of New England has been overrun by that militant green mindset for years. Everything fun is gone or illegal. I grew up riding dirt bikes and ATVs right out my backyard. All gone. What times we live in ... :(

Mt. Washington is 6,288 ft. The Mt. Washington Hotel WAS beautiful until the Omni took over. They have added two monstrosities, the spa, and the new "family wing". Don't even get me started about what they did to the Main Dining Room. Mt. Washington is usually in the soup. It's like a cloud magnet. Whenever I hike it, which is only in the Summer, I prepare for Winter conditions. It snows EVERY month of the year. The weather can change in the blink of an eye. Welcome to my home town. I used to fish in the pond you flew over before your landing. I never had the balls to jump into lower falls. I have heard too many stories of people dying there. Looks like you had great weather on Mt. Washington. Yes, that was great weather.

Absolutely beautiful! My god that place is a friggin' palace!!! You two really pick some beautiful places to discover, lovin' it! Footnote: If I listen carefully, I can actually hear the hydraulic pumps raising and lowering the landing gear. ✌

Happy New Year and love your videos. Is there an altimeter or autopilot error in your beautiful 310 that maintains altitude consistently 100ft above assigned altitudes or is that a personal technique to put the odds of avoiding a collision in your favor?

Beautiful scenery. What time of the year were you there? Jamie looks so classy in that chair holding her glass of wine.
