Personally I think you look better with a low profile. The high crown makes you look like a train conductor because your profile is thin, but it’s whatever you like. I’ve noticed that the 5950 low crowns are popular among MLB pitchers for whatever reason. Also I noticed that Colin Moran at first base for the Pirates has been sporting one as of late.

It’s unfortunate that the LPs aren’t offered in as many styles as the originals - because I think very few people look good with that big “bucket” towering several inches above their head. The low profile just looks cleaner and more relaxed… but clearly a lot of folks must prefer the “billboard” look.

One way to avoid super high and boxy crown is to avoid Made in Bangladesh hats. I've had better experience with Chinese and Vietnamese made 5950 especially after shaping them.

I agree with many of the comments that the LP looks better on you. The regular crown volume doesn’t scale with the hat size (all the size does is make it tighter in the back), so I feel that the regular is always going to have a bit of that train conductor vibe with the smaller sizes. I’m a 7 1/8th, and while I think the shape of the LP is a bit too rounded, I feel having less excess volume looks better. It also varies a lot, with some LPs being more rounded than others and some regulars being more square than others too.

no, i dont think curving the bill will make it low pro. i think the low pros are stitched different and use way less fabric. the 5950 seems lower when you bend the bill, because you also bend the front and it lays back, its not lower, the angle just changed.

*It’s all about the fitment!* The New Era 59FIFTY Standard Full-Crown 👑 Fitted Caps used to have a goofy higher Taller-Crown, it has since been slightly lowered gradually over the years, to what I would consider a proper good fitting 🧢 Mid-Crown 👑. The Low-Profile for me is to snug on top 🔝, and does not let your head breathe especially if you grow your hair out. But I do like and prefer a pre-curved brim.

I just find out from my little collection of hats something interesting,the MLB hats are taller then NBA and NFL hats,the crown is taller and bigger, so in my head it's looks very bad,I keep them for collection because are some limited editions,but I thinking to buy low profile,now I wear 9forty adjustable...so no more NY Yankees and LA Dodgers for me. Another aspect of 59fifty is the size,for example if is made by wool it fits me good,if the material is polyester or cotton(same size) it's fits me smaller and is killing my head.I stick with 9FORTY and 9FIFTY adjustable. By the way it looks better on you the low profile, the 59fifty it's make your head shape longer,one of my main reason I don't wear them especially MLB hats.

yeah the crown stays the same height. so if you wear below 7 1/2, you get the train conducter look. but it doesnt look so bad if you bend the brim to fit your face. if you do have a smaller size head, i highly recommend going for the low pro, and fight the urge for that cool 5950 look.

You're just not used to it. If anything, the regular 59Fifty hat makes your head look bigger than it is. Low profile is more proportional to your head and face.

Head shape is important, if you have a small head the regular 59fifty will be too big even if you can get a small size the crown is very high and will not suit a small face. Even the low profile can be problem especially if you have a small diamond shape/oval face.

You can take a steamer to the brim and then once it is warmed up use a wide water bottle or glass to help form the curve. If you can fit rubber bands around it and have it dry in that position it should help restore the shape. Best of luck 🤞🏼🙏🏽

Where I struggle is with a regular 5950 if I were forwards, it looks great, if I flip it around it seems to fit a little bit different. When I wear it backwards it seems to press down on my ears more than it does when I wear it forwards for whatever reason. I’m wondering if the low profile model will help with that? the 5950 has a lot of empty space, so it will rest on your ears if its not shaped right, you probably need to bend the brim and shape it to your head. the low profile shouldnt do that if you decide to wear it, its a hat with less empty space, so it shouldnt slide down onto your ears. i would say it doesnt do it when you wear it forwards, because the angle the hat is at and the shape of your head, when you turn your hat backwards, it reversed the angle of your hat more downward on the back of your head and onto your ears, if you wanted to stop that, you would prolly have to put the hat over your eyebrows. sounds like you need a low pro.

In theory should be the same but in general a low crown on the smaller side you can't get away with like you could with a regular. Living in Europe and ordering from the US I went with the lager size just to be safe. Could fit some 1/4 regular but almost never a 1/4 low crown. But those were still Made in USA hats, maybe the sizing is better now
