She is a beautiful and elegant ballerina who has very delicate and precise techniques. But personally I think it’s a bit…dare I say academic-ish? It feels like she is being a bit too careful not to make a mistake and to look perfect. It definitely doesn’t look effortless to me. Thus it’s hard to get into the story and see her as the role. Or maybe it is just a personal preference because I’m too used to watching more expressive and flashier styles like balancine or Russian/vaganova? Either way I need to study more and figure it out. 😅

Concordo, uno la guarda e non capisce cosa ci sia che non va, ma qualcosa c e'. Magari semplicemente la sciatteria della Scala, oltre la tecnica ci deve essere la ripetizione continua perche' il lavoro venga interiorizzato.

Secondo me ha qualcosa di troppo rigido alla altezza di collo braccia e clavicola, quella specie di snodo meraviglioso nelle ballerine russe, e che consente la vera ed espressiva padronanza dei movimenti.

"ÉTOILE?" THIS is STAR dancing? No, it is not. Far from it. The only quality of STAR dancing here is her somewhat resemblance to the great French ÉTOILE, Noella PONTOIS in the pas de deux.She even looks like her. It has the elements of the French School in Port de bras, squared attitude derriere, and arabesque. I rate the pas de deux a B- pretty, with excellent quality partner. The schoolish variation with careful execution is not Étoile caliber, ending in malnutrition piqués (13) with room for (18) in the right brio tempi. The final diagonal coda with piqués en coud de pied, soutuonús have endurance issues. It was probably nervous tension, and definitely not Étoile finish. There is no need to discuss fouettés. She was tired and off tempi. It happens. Not to Shakirova. Is MANNI a true Étoile? NO. Contact ELENA KUNIKOVA cara. She has a pocketful of Russian secrets, many of her own creations. She was Étoile.

While you are, of course, entitled to your personal outlook and opinion, please consider that one cannot judge a dancer' s prowess by just one short video of a performance on one day. I also admire Shakirova very much. However, I would not want all ballet companies to clone one company and only one dancer.

I think Scala titled Manni as Etoile because she's a public figure quite famous here in Italy.She use to dance in tv popular shows with Bolle (also very popular in Italy), she danced in a show in Arena di Verona transmitted by public tv and Andrijashenko asked her to marry him during the program🥶😂😂.In my opinion it's just marketing it has nothing to do with her artistic quality,wich is not so high actually

@paolomanassi6847 Ciao Paolo. Your comment explains a lot of questions I have about this promotion. Particularly after watching all the posts on KZbin. The last one I saw was of the famous Grand Pas Classique variation. Her dancing and huge ovation from an ecstatic audience reminded me of the featured principal dancers in Las Vegas shows who danced on pointe. I'm a huge BOLLE fan. I saw him at ABT and was incredible, in particular as Romeo in Alessandra FERRI'S first farewell last performance as Juliet in the McMillan production with the ABT company. It was HISTORIC. I saw all her Juliet performances with different partners like Julio BOCCA, etc. She owned the role. I agree with you that this promotion is likely more celebrity publicity than actual classical ranking. She's not CARLA FRACCI. A more truthful ranking would be a First Soloist. She does have a presence onstage, sensual, and beautiful. Not GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA beautiful, but Claudia CARDINALE light. There are nice touches in the pás de deux like the exiting double dedans en seconde into penchée. However, that semicircle walking to the piqué arabesque instead of boureés was a tired warning sign. The bottom line is this, if La MANNI can fill La Scala and get standing ovations, good for Scala and the ranking they gave her. It's like a Cinderella story. She would be great in it.!!! Cheers 🍻.

I enjoyed the male dancer, Manni not so much. Sometimes she seemed off with timing and struggled to catch up. Good try though.😊

Manni is a gorgeous ballerina by all measures, and I was very happy to learn that she had been made Etoile. You don't happen to have any video of her Tatiana in Onegin, the night she was named Etoile? ❤🌟🩰 (Adrijashenko here supports her so well as always).
