Your welcome, we know who's idea it was for the 18" fan. You also need some more fresh air intake. You need about 3 times the size of the 18" fan on max speed. So you need a opening about 1.5'x4.5'

Thats over 1600 sq in, which is larger enough to run 10k cfm at 1150fpm! You need a louver, and depending on the louver size it will have a different "free space" that will determine the size you need to that amount of air at a particular cfm. If you add in filtration...which you should... you need to consider the static pressure increase required to pull X amount of air through your filters (depends on the filter type). Since your only fan is exhaust, it will have to overcome the static increase....unfortunately axial wall mount fans aren't the best with static pressure. Filtered intake fan at equal cfm with metal mesh (washable) filters is the best solution here. (Except for the power it uses) Experience: Commercial ventilation expert for 20 years.

If you enclose the area between the fan and the rigs with 4x8 foam board pieces your exhaust fan will work twice as well. Basically just put the foam board to the front post of the rack to turn it into a giant exhaust hood. Right now it's drawing air from the path of least resistance which is the entire room.. isolating that corner will help you substantially and foam board is easily movable. I only have four 8 gpu rigs but I ducted that same 8 inch inline fan outside with a collar through the foam board on the hot end. Tough to explain through text but basically the rigs are setup in a small square space with a divider 3/4 through the middle and open on the basement end. The rigs are lined up so the fresh air passes right by them all. Works like a charm. Even the 4th one on the hot end never sees gpu temps above 64C.

Depressurizing a house with an 24-7 exhaust fan does carry the risk of creating Carbon Monoxide back drafts. This is when the combustion gas from a gas water heat is sucked back into the house by the negative pressure. Just something to be aware of if you have gas appliances.
@lucashmz4 жыл бұрын
Hey Red Panda, I mine since 2018 and I don't miss one single video of yours. If I could give you a tip, you should block from the top of your shelf to the ceiling (you can use styrofoam sheets), that way you will create a hot aisle containment and the air won't recirculate and mix with your fresh air. Think about it.

please look into a server room design sperate the hot and cold site of the racking this cap be done cheapy with tarp !! you will get a much better cooling rate not allowing the mixture of hot and cold air from both sides of the racking and also the exhaust will be ALOT more efficent in extracing the hot air, as bu seperating the cold/hot side you have much more control over temps

If you plan on keeping the mining op, you could consider using a air to water heat-pump with a big buffer to heat water and heat the house. In summer it's not that beneficial because you need much less warm water but you can always extract too much heat to the outside with fans.
@davebodger24 жыл бұрын
Another idea is to put solar film on the outside of the windows that get sun, it will help lower the peak heat load into the room. Also paint any exposed outside wall on the South side white, if it isn't already. Every little helps. :-)

TWO... you have room for another one. Put a second fan in that window and your temps will be even better. Also if you haven't thought about it... you should build a hot room / cold room design. You need to close off your rigs in an isolated room with a lot of exhaust fans to pull out the hot air. You are still pulling out air from the rest of the room. You need to focus on the hot air from the rigs. This is a much better solution than the in-line fan though.
