I am 69 years old, and my wife, Tonia, died in 2022. To avoid depression, I sorted through hundreds of our items and threw out so many items. For example, I threw out all of Tonia's clothing, except for a few items with good memories. I am still not totally done organizing. My house burned down on Thanksgiving and I broke my leg and ankle in three places getting out with only a T-shirt and shorts. We lost everything... all of our sentimental items... our whole past. Remember, it's not the things, it's the people in your life that matter. You also learn who really cares, and who doesn't. I got to declutter my friends and family list too. Oddly, I feel truly free now knowing who I can truly count on.

I kept two bins of toys our sons (now 42 and 38) played with when they were little. Now, their children play with them. I have the original fisher price, little tykes, blocks, Lincoln logs, matchbox cars, and Lego’s. It’s been fun watching the grands playing with the same toys as their dads. 🥰

Loved this video❤ I did a massive attic and garage declutter and for some reason, I have to use black trash bags when decluttering or else it just feels wrong! It got so confusing I had to buy 3 boxes of trash bags each with different coloured drawstrings for each type of thing I would throw away😅

Passing by for now, great job with the declutter & organization! Just really had to mention something before it gets stuck in my mind. There is a mat thingy that I saw you stuff in a bin, you can see it at 21:10. It is not straight in the bin because it's too long. Keeping it like that will make a permanent crease & will damage it. It would be better to put it in a long bag, with a label if it's not transparent (keeps the dust away without forcing it).

At the moment I am decluttering my entire bedroom. And I know I need to keep it to small spaces, but when I start I get distracted and than I declutter what my mind wanted to decluther the most I think. And so I end up piece by piece closer to a clean home. From the outside it still looks like a mess, but in my head it feels alteady more decluttered because I know its neat in those cabinets. I have a small bedroom, so I can't just chose 1 corner because I have no space to put everything from that corner to somewhere else.

Hi. I have been "itching" to clean out my garage the last two or three years. I am one person. With a two car garage. Car was only in there one winter in 17 years. It is Wayyyyyyy past due. I do the same manner of taking EVERY SINGLE THING out, putting all items into categories. But, Every single item must be washed or completely dusted before it goes back in. Takes me and another person two FULL DAYS. One taking out, washing down entire garage.... Another putting back. Last six years or so, it's just me. I work 4 jobs so...free, motivated, dedicated time is at a premium. I do art and craft shows many weekends... so that makes it much harder. I also work a fulltime job, am an independent interpreter- French, English, Spanish; in addition to teaching art and craft classes And running my small art business. ....oh, and i volunteer teach am English class once aweek : ) I'm sure you did not need to know all this...hahaha. WOW!! 🤩💖 Thank you SO much for the kind comment, Sheila - I’m so glad you’re here! 💕 I’ve always had an “I can just do it myself” mentality, and while it is harder doing it on your own it’s also SO satisfying seeing everything come together exactly how you wanted it to 🥰🥰 incredible how hard working you are, it’s very admirable 💖💖 Definitely don’t feel like you have to declutter your entire garage at once. To make it more manageable, you could set a timer to declutter for 15-20 minutes a day, or one corner of your garage at a time. Less overwhelming and less time consuming, I just got it done all at once to give some extra motivation ✨💖😘 SO nice to meet you!! xo

"Decluttered forever" - I hate to break it to you, but after decluttering my two-car garage (which we do park our cars in) several times over the past 20 years, your garage will not be decluttered forever. ☺☺ Having homes for things and putting things back in their homes is crucial to keeping an organized garage and decluttering often is also important. Garages can become dumping grounds for things that we probably shouldn't be keeping or have forgotten we have.

I would love the video even more if there was no music when you are speaking. Also, people that watch cleaning (any physical work) videos like to hear the actual sounds of the work-EVEN when speeded up. Haha nice to have you in the community and fun point however I must now add my opinion. Trust me sped up unmuted sounds of cleaning sounds like gravel tumbling in a machine. Also I’d find it very hard to become motivated with a bunch a grunting in the background lol. Kelly really only ever has music going when she’s talking during very non important bits.

SAME! 🙌🏻😂 it’s important to remember when you’re decluttering that it isn’t all your clutter, everyone is responsible! my husband decluttered his tools, and then I helped with organizing and making it look tidy - mostly by grouping like things together and putting them in bins, on shelves, or in drawers ✨✨ you’re NOT alone in this! 💖💞
