New F-22 Raptor After Upgrade Shocked The World
The resulting machine was so innovative, decades ahead of its time, that the U.S. Congress banned exports to any third countries, including NATO allies. An exception was made only for its staunchest ally in the Middle East, Israel. And that only in 2020. The U.S. has approved the sale of about 50 F-22 Raptor units to that state, for about $10.4 billion.

Ok so let's clear some things up. The first stealth aircraft was actually the SR-71 it was designed and built with a small radar cross section in mind. The second would be skunkworks have blue, the 3rd was some wild Northrop thing that looked like an airborne whale that was a purpose built spycraft. Then we got the F117, and B2 shortly after. I worked on the F-22 program as a contractor to Lockheed Martin. My company supplied the leading edge flat actuation (LEFA) systems…. the side weapon bay(SWB) door actuation systems……. and the main weapons bay (MWB) door actuation systems. I Worked with the contract company 22+ years… was involved with the research and development testing, and production testing. I was responsible for all of the test equipment, and all the calibration for testing….on all of the subassemblies, before they left our facility, to be installed at the Lockheed production line. Lockheed and all the subcontractors, took a huge loss ….many hours and millions of dollars of R&D were involved getting this aircraft put together , and not enough were made….. after the government Axed the program, For all of the companies involved , to recoup their losses. Everything on this aircraft is very critical… as timing with the doors opening releasing ordinance and closing ….in an undisclosed amount of time , we had to accommodate and test our units , Under the guidelines per Lockheed ….if it did not make criteria on our test equipment it did not ship. Each side has a (PDU) Power Drive Unit, or technically a hydraulic motor, powered by the aircraft, to open the side doors …also a large hydraulic motor(PDU) controls the main weapons door systems . The timing on the systems were very critical, for the stealth capabilities to remain undetected. It was vulnerable to a bigger cross section during that blip of time for detection. After the government did what it did …our company business suffered, as well as Lockheed, and every other subcontractor for this aircraft. Also , I was involved with leading edge flap systems for the F-35 A,B, and C variants…..and the ordinance release mechanism, which we tested just like the F-22. The cost of the F-35 program is astronomical. It has its advantages, because of the ground attack modes with of the different variants. With the cost of the F-35 …. they could have completed the contract for the F-22. The air frames can only take so many flight hours of designated time. I don’t think it’s very realistic, to see this plane lasting another 40 years. With new avionics upgrades and all the high tech helmets, That can be added to this aircraft ….that is well and good if possible. But , once the airframe flight hours are acquired , it will eventually be parked. A new F-22 airframe will never be developed again, that’s facts! Its role was to lead the F-35s….taking out threats ahead of them ! It was a big mistake for our government to cancel this F-22 program. The six generation will be a long way out I’m afraid, time will tell.

they shouldn't because its pointless by this point. f22 it self can take down 5 f15 by just one f22 alone and US has like about 70 of them in service. the truth is that its way too fucking expensive compared to the rest of the aircraft we see. Moreover, the price to sustain it long enough are expensive as hell as well. modernizing the current ones is the smartest move currently, allowing it to have the function of f35 while having the power of a f22 virtually and physically makes it a nigh-invinicble fighter. after all that US can then consider building more raptors or find a better solution to replace the weaker f35s

As I understand it the F22 was developed as primary stand off dog fighting platform mainly to counter Russia as a replacement for our F16s. During the development the world changed and dog fighting became a thing of the past. We suddenly needed a multi-role fighter to fight the new wars (Iraq & Afghanistan), so the F22 was virtually abandoned in favor of the F35 JSF platform.

Several people have already made note, but I thin the narrator meant to say the first stealth fighter. Personally I think instead of making it a bomber aircraft keep it in it's role of stealth fighter. Upgrade where and whenever possible in regards to taking on other aircraft. If Air to air missles become smaller well then see if we an fit more inside of it. As radar's improve upgrade it's radar etc.

I support anything that keeps this incredible bird in the air. It is already the best and the upgrades will only make it even better than the best. Come on China, let's see what you got cause I know it isn't even close to what we got. Not underestimating the enemy, just having the belief in what the US has. Which is the best in the world hands down. To be honest, the F-22 is the best the world knows about. What we don't, makes the F-22 look like a bi plane from WWI.

"see what you got"... hehehe... everything 'they got' they got from us through hacking and black market purchases of hacked or leaked classified info. Our stuff is still gonna win. Even our older stuff would beat anything else out there (the new F-15 II) And we get info from sat data. Whenever we are in a "battle theater", which includes a 300 mile radius circle around any flying US craft, we are getting area assessment data, and we will kill any enemy before they even get to the horizon between us. Many, many miles before they see us, we send the claws of the Raptor to them. I did not know they were not set up for ground target attacks though. I thought anti-radar missiles were similar form factor.

Yes. The tigershark. This one Air Force person a few days ago said that when you put bombs under the wings of the F20 its performance suffers badly. So why not use this plane in a mostly defensive role? They could use it to throw up a fighter screen very quickly when their radar detects incoming planes. South Korea, Taiwan, and Israel all could use a plane like this, among other countries.
@lazylime8046
@lazylime8046 Жыл бұрын
@@georgepalmer5497 Because Congress consistently blocked sales and had to mediate troubles between McDonnell Douglas and Northrop. The Mirage 2000 ended up being what the F-20's potential customers bought after all of the troubles when attempting to place orders for the F-20. It just wasn't worth all the hassle that Congress and McDonnell Douglas put them through, and the program ended up being cancelled around 1986. The Mirage 2000, at the time, looked far more promising with its 2000C-S5 model on the horizon with a brand new RDI radar and engine, as well as compatibility for every missile on the market - even Soviet ones with a rail attachment. Edit: And by today's standards, the F-20's extremely outdated. It would crumble on any modern battlefield shortly after takeoff. Taiwan has Mirage 2000-5EI's, F-16A Block 20's, and their F-CK-1's. South Korea has their FA-50's, F-16C/V's, F-15E's, F-35's, and KF-21's, and Israel has the F-16I's, F-15I's, and a new F-15EX model titled F-15IA on the horizon.

The F20 came out at about the same time as the F16, and it would have been getting many upgrades during that time, like the F16. One guy said on the internet that when you put bombs on an F20 is when its performance starts to suffer. I was saying that we shouldn't try to bomb with it at all. We should have used this plane in an entirely defensive way. We could use it to throw up a fighter screen when enemies attack from the air. There are a lot of situations in the world where we have an ally directly next to a savage enemy, like North and South Korea, for example. There are a lot of countries that would love to buy this plane. I don't know for certain, but I'm willing to bet that stealth aircraft are devilishly hard to keep ready for combat at a moment's notice all the time.

Raptor's medium range radar guided a2a missiles won't be upgraded from the AIM 120-C to AIM 120-D, that wouldn't be to wise given that the Lockheed is in a final stage of development of a new a2a missile that will replace the venerable AMRAAM. It's the AIM-260 JATM. AIM-260 will have much longer range, greater speed and newer tracking systems and sensors compared to AMRAAM that is basically a 40 year old upgraded missile design. And of course AIM-260 will fit inside the weapon bays of the Raptor. There's another a2a missile being developed by the Pentagon, a so called LREW (Long range engagement weapon). This will be an extreme range a2a missile (we're talking over 350-400 miles) but won't fit inside the weapon bay of the Raptor or the F-35. Maybe the new NGAD or B-21 Raider.

f 35 is not on par with the raptor. it's good, and can defeat a LOT of targets with similar systems to the 22 and a few extras, but the f 35 was designed to do everything so it does them all ok. had they made the 35 for a singular role, then yes it'd probably stand out as much as the raptor. as it is, it's a cousin who isn't as good. it's a capable plane, but against a raptor, it'd be lunch.

It does have many sensors. Just none of those that require a forward facing window, which would increase its radar signature. It still took ten racks of stimulation gear to test it down at the Hughes Anechoic Chamber in Texas, just like the F-35 did. There were actually only a handful of sensors that did not get included. One is obvious. Looking at the F-35 nose, one can see the optical pod PROTRUDING on it. The F-35 sacrificed a small amount of increased head on radar signature with that. No such animal hanging on the F-22. Oh and it is a truly cutting edge plane, silly.
