You can get automatic Volvos in Des Moines they are usually Casey’s truck we have them and they’re nice

Hi Ben . If you recall the steep hill about 2 miles south on of Kum go on 35 where you stopped for your break, I could go up that hill in warm weather and only loose 5 mph after they ran the over head I would loose about 14 mph . It was a 420 hp .in a IH 9200j day cab . If yours is running right I think you will be happy with it . ( also had replied to you below , I hope this may have answered some of your question s.)

I love the Kenworth T800. You should add the led lights exhaust kit. Hope you can find the grain trailer 34 ft or 36ft. Mine use 36ft no problem so far

Ben, measure between the back tandems. If it’s 60-inches center to center it’s a Canadian spread and you can carry more weight on your drives. You can do a lot more with that wet kit. And I’ve seen several and own an RGN without a pony motor. They are actually a lot more reliable. Also! Make sure you run CAT filters. And if you can put a wire screen fuel filter on it. I’ve owned several CAT’s over the years, fuel and electrolysis are its down fall. Especially with that being an Acert motor, they run hot. Make sure you run CAT antifreeze premixed. Also, that many miles, run the overhead in it. Do those things and she will last for a long time.

@@kw900lkevinIf I’m wrong I’m wrong. Could be because it’s a KW, which I’ve never owned one. And would never own one. I’ve had everything from 359’s to 389’s. One Cummins, which I’ll never do that again. In fact the last one I got from Fitzgerald, and it’s got a C15. My sons can buy the trucks from now on 😂

I have drove a C13 for a company in 2006 it was a new truck it pulled hills very good . At 50000 miles they had the over head done at CAT in Des Moines and lost power and fuel mileage I could hear the top end was loose . Before that it pulled rite up the hills good . I think you got a good truck .

@@iowANFarmer Hi Ben . It was a brand new truck I started driving it there was only 3000 miles on it . The compony I worked for like to run the over HEAD on a new truck at 40 000 to 50 000 miles They did not have to over haul it they just ran the over head and Cat tech did not do it right .I have a ear for different sounds when I have drove some thing for 50 000 mile. You may also and the truck would still pull on the hills just not as good , when the engine warmed up good about 20 miles up the road I could hear why it lost power and used more fuel .

If you need more room in the cab they do make extensions for those cabs we have heard the same thing with def that’s why all our semis don’t have it we were told also find a semi you like because you will spend the money to fix it

The room in this cab isn’t horrible. The Volvo definitely has more room. But maybe that’s the next semi.

I would trace the coolant lines for a closed valve. There's 3 or 4 different spots where they could be tied into

frosting the a/c lines means a/c refrigerant is low and or the compressor is not cycling or pressure switch is stuck, pin the fifth wheel for frameless dump trailers C 15 is 14.9 liter leave the compound turbos on

@@iowANFarmer the low or high pressure switch in the a/c system is not working in defrost mode it automatically runs the a/c to dehumidify the air on the windshield, also check the a/c comp relay it most likely stuck on making the a/c run I've had all those issues before

If you had it in defrost mode the a/c will run to help pull moisture out of the cab

I drove one as a rental for two weeks. Being a big guy also I hated that clutch pedal. I didn't feel like I could stretch my legs as far as in my Pete. Up to you but if I bought it I'd single turbo it.

All the Cats ive been around have atleast 2 valves. The one you turned then i believe the other was up on the passenger side of the head.

The one I turned is lower on the block - passenger side by the frame.

Turn AC off, may have problems with it, freezing up. Could be inline taps on heater hoses

Hi Ben l workfor a place that has a 98 T800 with same motorlove the truck. Check the right side of motor should be two values to open. One at the front of the motor where the big radiator hooks to the motor. And the one at the rear you pointed out. Also on the control in the cab for the temp control that cable comes unhooked. If the cable is unhooked the lever will move freely simple to fix. Just remove the four screws holding the control planes pull it out and rebook the cable. You will like this more then a freight liner. Also have a freight liner and it’s not as nice has a Detroit motor and it’s a dog compared to the cat motor.

Oh and make sure someone hasn't shut taps off on the side of block on those heater lines if they had had issues with their heater control valve wasn't shutting off and Ac freezing up sometimes just shut lines off to keep er cool for summer lol

Buy a long dump since you got a wet kit you can haul grain gravel and everything in between later if you wanted you could always buy a hopper but a long dump will do everything you need

@ obviously you have to do what’s right for your operation o always thought of if I was to buy a truck all you really need is a long dump and a short dump for doing road construction and things then long dump to haul grains, lime, ddg, fines, etc but at the end of the day you have to do what’s right for your operation my thoughts with those two combinations you can almost haul everything across the board but to each their own. Change the Trans and rear end oils it takes about 12 gallons. 80 90 works the best

Three things,thank God it’s not either a Freight Shaker or Volvo! And be ready to change the flex pipe under the cab for the dual stacks,real pain! Freight Liner cabs completely fall apart, the doors are about an inch thick! Volvos are just a pain to work on. I’ve worked on them all.

That Frost looks to me that your expansion valve is stuck and probably needs replaced. Just my thoughts.

Easy to change, but you will have to pull a vacuum on it before you replace the Freon.

Ben, do some research on that. My understanding is as a farmer you can haul your own grain without a CDL. If you haul someone else's grain for money you need a CDL.​@iowANFarmer

@ it’s what the lady at the DMV told me. Stay within 150 miles, don’t be doing it commercially and you’re good to go.
