@@Nathdood Where did you look up an official lyric? If there's an official lyric out then I'd love to see it! It's entirely possible there are a ton of things I'm getting wrong! Another one that I spotted but everyone else (I think) is getting wrong: "Oh, Bird, worry not" from Missing Limbs. Bird is a common term of endearment. In the song he's talking to a loved one. People have suggested it's "but"...but I think Vessel is speaking to a dearly held loved one. In this case in Dark Signs ("I will not break..."), though, I really think I'm right. He's repeating a mantra to himself to stay strong in resistance to his desire to go back to how it was. That reading of that line feels like it's in line with the idea the rest of the lyrics leaves me with. If nothing else, it's amazing how this band can say so many different things to so many different people. They seem to make abstract paintings the listener can imbue with their own meaning pulled straight from their own lives. WHAT a damn treasure this band is!

Fun fact about this song: if you remember back in Are you really OK?, The first lyrics talk about raising you in the dark. The first few lines of this song mentioned being raised where there was no street lights. The running theory is that are you really OK? Was sung from the viewpoint of vessel’s mother, and she was the one who was seeing her child go through all this trauma.

His storytelling is definitely on another level. He pulls you in and you feel what he's conveying. The only real difference in the albums is that they got a new producer for TMBTE. It definitely shows as their uniqueness shines better. If they ever release remastered versions of the first two albums I'm getting them in a fucking heartbeat. Much love. 🤘🔥🤘❤️🫂

I loved this one guys. Eric over there goin "Eewww" a few times 😂😂😂 And Kyle just vibin like 😌😌😌 eyes closed soaking it all up. I have to agree with Eric tho. TMBTE is absolutely phenomenal. But so is their earlier LPs but just in a different way. This song is lyrically descriptive of how tortured Vessel is and how he feels about what is happening in this "relationship". I think one of the things people love about ST is that almost everyone can relate to their songs. Vessel just has this gift for story telling and weaving music and emotion like the Pied Piper. I don't mind being a "rat" or "mouse" and following wherever Vessel leads. I'm down for it 😂. I'm transfixed with his voice and music and can't get enough. Sleep Token loves to fade out so that their music gets stuck in your head. I'm convinced of that. The only difference between TMBTE and their other music is that the genre switching and blending is more overt. But as you guys said, the elements of trap/hip-hop/R&B were always there.

The fact you are going through their albums chronologically is really cool… BUT please make sure to also check out their EP‘s called One and Two!! Those two records feature some of their absolute best songs in my opinion. AND please also check out the music videos to The Way That You Were and Jaws… two songs that were single releases and never featured on an album, but are sooo good! Jaws is probably one of the best songs they ever released.

My favorite catch here is the opening melody that happens in the background is a similar, if not almost identical, melody of the chorus from TMBTE. Interesting how in that chorus too, Vessel says, “My my those eyes like fire-,“ and in here Vessel talks about “alarm bells in your eyes.” The continuity between their three albums is insane!

The bass in the song has always affected me in a very interesting way as well. For me, it reminds me of what growing up in a poor neighborhood is like. There's almost always some kind of background noise, trains, planes, freeway, power lines. Eventually your own ears go deaf to it, but every once in a while it's brought to your attention in a very jarring way and you don't even realize that it's been there all along. I grew up in a few areas like this and that's what it is for me at least. I know their music is like all music though, greatly up to your own interpretation.
