Fun fact about "Iron Patriot". When first introduced in the comics the Iron Patriot suit was worn by Norman Osborn AKA The Green Goblin from Spider-Man. Osborn was portraying himself as rehabilitated and after scoring a lucky hit on an alien leader invading Earth he was rewarded by essentially being given Nick Fury's job and took advantage of that to persecute superheroes that pissed him off (i.e., Spidey) and formed his own team of Avengers (most of whom were villains disguised as Avengers).

1:10:24 When an Extremis test subject's body rejects Extremis they literally explode in a high-temperature fireball. That test subject dies. They are literally vaporized. That's why in the instance in Rose Hill, TN there were only five 'shadows' (similar to the effect of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima). The fireball is so hot it vaporizes the victims, but their body briefly blocks the heat so they leave a shadow on a nearby wall. The test subject did not leave a shadow because he was the source of the intense heat (3000 degrees!). Likewise, as shown by the Mk42, if an Extremis subject is badly damaged enough (for example, his torso literally ripped open, destroying most of the internal organs), they cannot regenerate. (Savin aboard Air Force One.) Pepper killed Killian by flinging an explosive projectile at him and igniting it with the hand thruster. She damaged Killian's body enough that he is incapable of regenerating.

At this point you REALLY need to watch the Marvel One-Shots! They fill in some of the background that helps you understand the characters a bit better. "The Consultant" occurs just after The Incredible Hulk. "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" occurs just prior to the events of Thor. "Item 47" follows directly after The Avengers. "Agent Carter" takes you back to the events right after the end of World War II and the shift of mission of the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). "All Hail the King" happens roughly a year after the events of Iron Man Three. Perhaps consider a You-Tube reaction to all of them in a single reaction video? They are fairly short.

The Mandarian being a manufactured terrorist threat by an industrialist trying to use the crisis to seize power and influence is actually a nice and relevant bit of political commentary. Maybe Marvel shouldn't have applied it to Iron Man's comic book nemesis and the studio has done political commentary alot better in other spots of the MCU but truthfully the twist never bothered me too much over the years. That and Ben Kingsley actually does a great job showing off his range as Trevor's normal self and stage persona. "All Hail the King" which is a short film that acts as a sequel to this movie that follows Trevor in jail is worth checking out.

It feels more real. In movies where the world is in danger no one believes it. There is no way the Earth would be destroyed that would eliminate all possibilities of a sequel. With lesser threats it feels much more serious. Now, you need to watch Marvel's Agents of SHIELD series. It starts here in phase 2, with stories happening parallel to the films. The first seasons have strong connections with the rest of the MCU but, unfortunately, they didn't want to incorporate it into the main chronology at a certain point. Despite having gone on to independent plots, it's a series that's worth watching.

It's such a cool idea to display Tony's ultimate power being his brain, not his technology, it fits like a glove, and this movie executes that notion basically perfectly. It really puts a spotlight on Tony's true strengths in a proud, awe-inspiring fashion, that simply makes him a badass, while also giving him a challenge to confront with the loss of his technology. I don't know if you guys spotted this, but it was the debris from Tony's collapsed mansion, which prevented the signal for all his suits which arrive in the final battle from being reached. I know it can be confusing, but I think you may have misunderstood Aldrich's motivation. Aldrich wasn't in the villain business for revenge after what Tony did, Tony's rejection just showed him the power of anonymity - People didn't take Aldrich seriously because of his appearance already, and when he was on that rooftop waiting for Tony, who was ultimately, never coming in mocking fashion, he saw all the people in the city and it really, truly hit him how nobody is noticing him, just like in his actual life. Aldrich kidnapped Tony because he wanted him to perfect Extremis, and Pepper in peril with Extremis in her provides true motivation for him to do his job properly - No stalling or pretending he can't do it! You're right that the details of how Extremis' healing works are unclear, but from what we can see - If you take out someone's heart, the vital instrument that provides life for one's body, they'll die. The bomb which caused Aldrich's death exploded in his heart, after Tony blasted a repulsor beam through another Extremis person's heart. I definitely would've preferred this be stated in the movie for Tony to hear, and he could then tell Pepper before she finishes off Aldrich. I also would've preferred Tony to fund a service that works in developing the technology required to operate on someone's heart, since he removed the shrapnel from his heart at the end of this movie, when his life was in constant peril in Iron Man 2. *Edit:* You know what, I think it's self-explanatory that if you take out an instrument that provides life for someone i.e. their brain or heart, it will cause the death of someone, so I don't think any further explanation is needed.

18:25 Remember this key detail going forward: Tony Stark is man who ALWAYS learns from his mistakes and experiences. And his ever-evolving Iron Man armor represents this: - Mark I: The original suit he built in a cave. [Iron Man] - Mark II (Original): First proper Iron Man armor. Later taken by James Rhodes, became War Machine Mark I armor. [Iron Man] - Mark II (Copy): Reproduction of original Mark II armor. Retired. [Iron Man 2] - Mark III: The first "finished product" armor. Solved the Mark II's icing problem. Destroyed. [Iron Man] - Mark IV: Replaced the destroyed Mark III. No notable upgrades. [Iron Man 2] - Mark V (Original): The "Suitcase Suit." Upgraded to be transportable and quickly-equipped. Destroyed. [Iron Man 2] - Mark V (Copy): On display in Happy Hogan's office at the Avengers Compound. - Mark VI: Upgraded to handle new Arc Reactor's higher output. [Iron Man 2, Avengers, Iron Man 3] - Mark VII: Upgraded for automatic deployment and assembly. - Mark VIII - Mark XLI: Various variations of Iron Man armor. The "Iron Legion." All destroyed. [Iron Man 3] - Mark XLII: The self-assembling suit. Further improved transportability and equip time. Final Iron Man armor suit powered by Tony Stark's internal Arc Reactor. Prototype. Destroyed. [Iron Man 3] 20:00 Remember Tony nearly freezing to death here. It'll be relevant again in like... nine movies. 55:47 Pepper saw Tony do that same move at the beginning of the movie. Other Notes: *The Extremis virus* In the comics, the Extremis "virus" (only called so because it can self-replicate and spread like a virus, but is actually a kind of nanotechnology) is mostly the same as seen here. Similarly, The Mandarin wanted to seize control of it for his own, malicious use, but was stopped by Tony (though it would be revealed in the MCU that Killian is not the real Mandarin; the *real* Mandarin will be revealed in 18 movies (and a foreshadow hint of who it is was in Iron Man 1). In the comics, Tony later improves Extremis, becoming Superior Iron Man, and also creating an intelligent Hulk (called "Doc Green").

If I remember correctly, at the time this came out, it wasn't particularly liked by fans because of how little we got of the suits, but I think people have warmed to it over time, especially in hindsight... At the time people wanted more of "Iron Man" (the superhero rather than the man), I think, so when there were so few parts with the suit, many were disappointed... But in context of the MCU, knowing how much more we get, that issue isn't as important... In some ways it's more unique in the MCU too, focusing on the ingenuity of the human element... I mean you kinda get that in the first Iron Man as well maybe, but this is a different format of it... I don't know... I think this might have been better received as a second or fourth movie though... I think with a trilogy you typically want the third to be more of the big stuff all the time... And the previous appearance before this was the Avengers movie, which was a huge movie... I think there was a bigger delay between films than in recent years too... And you know you can binge many of them... I suppose there was also the issue of how they changed the character of The Mandarin... This is probably a bigger deal to the fans than a casual viewer... This was also kinda improved on later too in the MCU, but I probably shouldn't explain how right now... But yeah, I think this film probably deserves more love than it gets.

That card could buy up the inventory of every store in a 1 mile radius and not even be a blip on the issuer's radar. Do you think in this circumstance Tony Stark, "Genius, BIllionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist" is going to bat an eye at paying full retail price? 37:41-37:45 in re: "The second mouse gets the cheese" comes from the concept that "The first mouse gets the trap" As I have always seen it, "The Clean Slate Protocol" which destroyed the suits, is symbolic for Tony finding he doesn't *need* the suits to take him away from the trauma and anxiety, what he needed was something _more important_ than his own trauma and anxiety. Something... Someone, he can be strong for internally. [here I go amateur psychoanalyzing]

This movie got so much hate on his time. And besides the villain plot is the biggest dog shit ever, is a great one. In the comics Mandarin is actually Trevor looking but no actor at all, super powerful and scary. Actually the bald guy in the first one it's supposed to be second leader of 10 rings(mentioned as the name of the group of radicals). The big leader is the mandarin. But anyway the armor scenes are great specially or course the Iron legion, legendary. BUT, Pepper's fake death was an unnecessary shit and Tony blowing all his suits, yeah very romantic but HURTS LIKE HELL, WE LOVE HIS SUITS THANK GOD they never did such a thing again XDDDDD

Agreed, I literally never understood why everyone including Classicman D hated this film, true the third film had problems which I can acknowledge, but honestly I enjoyed this one more than _Iron Man 2_ Most of the weak stuff from the second film such as the one-dimensional villains and Tony Stark being a complete dick and POS was all thanks to Justin Theroux who literally wrote the second film and since he didn’t return to write/co-wrote the third film at least the third film made it enjoyable to watch.

I honestly thought where Killian announced that he was really the Mandarin was one of the cheesiest scenes ever. Except for Yinsen's presence in the first Iron Man, this is the one I enjoy rewatching.

After this, in terms of release order, is Agents of S.HI.E.L.D. If you're gonna watch it, and you guys should, 'cause it's great-- but if you're going to watch it, you have to watch it in chunks, then go back to the movies, then back to the show in chunks, then the movies, and so on and so forth for a while. At least the first two seasons... Maybe the third, too... Watch the first seven episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D. before Thor the Dark World, then watch episodes 8-16 of S.H.I.E.L.D., followed by Captain America Winter Soldier, then episodes 17-22 of S.H.I.E.L.D. and then that's a wrap on season 1. Then watch Guardians of the Galaxy, Agents of SH.I.E.L.D. season 2 episodes 1-19, then Avengers Age of Ultron, then S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 episodes 20-22, then Ant-Man, then Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 episodes 1-19, Captain America Civil War, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 episodes 20-22. From there, you don't have to stop and start anymore. Season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. largely does its own thing, so just try and watch it after Doctor Strange. Season five is loosely connected to Avengers Infinity War so, just try and watch season five before Infinity War, but after Thor Ragnarok. Season six and seven are shorter, and do their own thing, so just try and watch them soon after Avengers Endgame... And try and watch the first seasons of Agent Carter before both Endgame and S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7. Thank you and enjoy! :)

I love the Iron Legion - Red Snapper, Heartbreaker etc - but my favourite armour has to be the Mark 38 ('Igor') 😁👍🏻
