Soooooo cool as I am a Beginner at Airtable 🙌🔥💪✨ Thank you

As you mentioned, building from scratch helps you understand the processes, and I think this is of utmost importance. However, this is great for inspiration and ideas, and I look forward to playing around with it.

Totally agreed! Getting more folks to try Airtable is the goal!

I hear you re “templates & due diligence” That’s makes a lot of sense. Able to see your view point ✨ Loved this Thanks again

I think that pepople that start with Airtable, and do know little with relational database concepts will find it helpfull to use, and learn how to build and link tables. As you, I'm not yet convinced that the end result of such builder will be perfect, but it should be a good starting point, even if they do not use it, but use it as inspiration to build their app. Thanks a lot for presenting that new feature. Regards

I agree with you, it's a great way to get new users engaged with the platform!

I think the beginner of airtable might be happy to have this. An advanced user would looking for an app that is only have the functions they want, just to make daily use easier.

I think this will be a really useful game changer for a lot of people if you don’t like what you see just change it, but as you show the schema you will be able to see where you’re going and then you can figure out this is a good roadmap my opinion.

Agreed, great way to get more people started with Airtable!

I'm looking forward to playing around with it! I think that as long as we have a reasonable understanding of how it works, it could be a good template to start our builds. Potential clients may be a little less intimidated to try it out and there will always be room for improvement. Also, I have clients who would completely shut down if presented with that interface 😂😂😂

good point! what dashboard/front-end are you currently using ?
@bluestone247510 ай бұрын
I've got a bunch of them but generally I like to make it look as clean as possible. I tend to use a record picker then set up fields and usually a gallery/image field or a few for anything that needs it. I try to stay away from grids on the dash but sometimes they're the best option so I tend to put them on the bottom of the page to use for additional details that the above fields might. The lists look a little too much like grids so I use them sparingly as well.

It is possible to create an app with a base already created?

I believe the app quick start only works from scratch

@@GarethPronovost Bad news :( Thanks Gareth!
@awakenwithoutcoffee10 ай бұрын
hmm using Softr or Bubble as a front-end seems allot cheaper due to the API bundling. They will probably consider every user using the Airtable app as a seperate editor making it way too expensive to even consider (?).
@GarethPronovost10 ай бұрын
The trouble is that Airtable is now limiting API calls, so using frontend tools for portals may prove difficult in time
@awakenwithoutcoffee10 ай бұрын
@@GarethPronovost that would be bad news indeed. What about Google Sheets?
@GarethPronovost10 ай бұрын
@@awakenwithoutcoffee Google sheets isn't charging for API requests, so far as I know. But do you really want to build in GSheets? 😳
@awakenwithoutcoffee10 ай бұрын
@@GarethPronovost I know what you mean but my client actually asked for it ha. I think familiarity plays a big role for choosing sheets. That plus the pricing is great compared to AIrtable. UI and functionality wise I really love Airtable but the pricing just blew me off. You basically pay twice over for each editor which is insane imo. Softr negated most of the Airtable costs but now that is out of the bag I might have to find an alternative to Airtable. Do you have familiarity with Firebase ?

Maybe it’s just that I only have about 10 people working in it, but interfaces still don’t seem useful. I find it so much easier to just work in Airtable directly
@GarethPronovost10 ай бұрын
We found interfaces to be incredibly helpful for our clients. They love being able to just share the data they desire, since sharing access to the database gives them access to all the data.
@blankpage170410 ай бұрын
Interfaces are useful if you need to show specific data to users without giving them access to the whole base. Or, if you don't want people to break things within the base :)

If they don’t understand how to use it they won’t use it - totally agree. Would have rather seen Airtable put all the resources they put into this into multi page printing/pdf. Womp womp…
