My parents got me a 20 gallon aquarium when I was 5. I'm 32 now and been keeping fish ever since! So cool to see your kids interested in it and having fun with their dad. Brings back memories. Great video Mick. You seem like you're doing well and I hope you continue to recover and get healthy!

So it was sims fish that cocked your order up? Those are not Tanganikan tropheus, the fish you've got come from lake malawi, at least I know not to place an order with them...Nice fish but no good if it's not the fish you ordered

Good that you are back o fish keeping Mick. I guess you realise by now that the fish you have are not Tropheus. Hard to tell exactly what they are but definitely not Tropheus. Good luck with them, I’ll look forward to seeing them develop.

I have been trying to place an order with sims for about 10 days now with no luck! Every time I add fish to the basket and go to check out it just says the Basket is empty! I have emailed twice have message on Facebook and left a comment on a post of theres to ask if they know of any problems with the site but absolutely no response from them😢😢. I guess I need to find someone different to buy fish from! But glad you can get some nice fish out of them!

Good video your kids are lovely miss mine being that age As for Sims got to be the worst supplier of fish I’ve ever used for quality of fish sold, the price and they’d total ineptitude at sorting delivery out so I’m not surprised they’ve sent you the wrong fish but it’s not on

Mick I’ve kept tropheus a long time. Need spirulina flake as they are herbivores and prone to bloat with high protein foods.

No pleasure in telling you mick but pretty sure they’re not tropheus fish. Theses look like tropheops macrophthalmus albino. From lake Malawi.

Mick those fish look very young.. don’t expect adult colour anytime soon Tropheus juveniles look nothing like the adults most of the time..

Just done some research for you.. they are a colour morph (rare) of Tropheus Moorii Red adult size approximately 15cm diet needs to focus on plant matter as they are algae scrapers, make sure you feed with low protein food or you may risk African Bloat (can be fatal).. they are going to grow into an amazing looking fish…

Those are not tropheus in the tank at all, they are from lake malawi, look at them when they are in the bag at the beginning

@MakoyUnggoy it is strange for me as Sims has them for £20 each but TropCo has the same Tropheus advised but at £107 each.. I just didn't want to throw shade and want to be optimistic and hope for the best..

I notice that everyone on KZbin that orders fish online open the boxes very quickly. Would it be better to open the cover slowly, so the fish don’t go from total pitch black to bright sunlight in a split second?

They are pseudotropheus you have by looks of it mate not Tropheus

When getting fish from online (or at least not locally) you really should be drip acclimating them as the difference in PH can be harmful to the fish. I know plenty of people who don't do this but it's something personally I've always done. It doesn't take long to do and is good practice imo Great to see you back buddy 😊

This isn't necessarily true. When the bag is sealed, CO2 builds up which lowers PH, which in turn lowers ammonia toxicity. If the PH drops low enough, it will turn the ammonia into ammonium. Then when you open the bag, gas exchange causes the PH to rapidly rise and along with it, the toxicity of the ammonia. This can be even more harmful, if not outright fatal, compared to the plop and drop method. The reason many people do not drip acclimate because of this.

Exactly this never drip acclimate. The chemistry in the bag changed over time. Fish can get ammonia burn. As soon as bag is opened get them out of that ammonia rich water. Mick you will need more fish in that tank to reduce aggression
