Got my FMS 24 and it has the same wheelbase than a very old 1/24 Devastor (or i dont really know the name anymore). The wheelbase seems to be the thing they say its 1/24, but the canopy is more like 1/18. I really like that rig "RTR" which is not the thing i usually do, its super nice with a couple of Quirks i need to figure out how to get over (like steering sometimes "reset" itself to a weird position until restarting all). Its a very good truck for the 150 Bugs RTR price, i think. Also some 2 to 7 year old Kids drove it in low and high and how kids drive it for 3 batteries, i was expecting at least the diffs to break, but it holds really well. Thumbs up FMS, you´re my new favour i guess (beside of Arrma and Traxxas for bashing rigs) =)

Which truck is the beater red truck? I'm looking to get my first small scale crawler for inside the house and some mild off road stuff in the back yard. Which vehicle is better for that? I love the look of the brown K5, and love the aging look and wheelbase of the red Chevy. I also like the look of the Smasher.

It sounds like the Power Wagon version of the FCX24 is now shipping with metal gears for the portal axles. Any idea whether the K5 Blazer is shipping with plastic or metal gears? (I just ordered one, and want to know whether I should go ahead and also order the metal gears knowing that the plastic ones will strip pretty easily once I upgrade the tires...)

All of the fcx24s ship with metal portal gears now. But they still have the plastic spoil in the diff. It’s not as quick to strip out but it probably will eventually. I usually change them out to a metal spool or the metal open diff from fms and just lock the diff up using some jbweld or something.

The difference with the FMS K5 blazer "1/24" and the FMS Chevy K10 "1/18" is the FMS K5 Blazer is actually 1/18 and the K10 pickup is actually 1/16.

They sent cease and desist letters recently to a bunch of small businesses who were making parts for the Trx4m. Several smaller US based businesses had to shut down their websites and remove items etc because they had Traxxas name in the description of the parts. These were all parts that made the truck much better & because Traxxas wasn’t making money off the parts they wanted to shut them down. Didn’t give any warning to several and just contacted their website provider and got their sites shut down completely. Making them jump through hoops for no reason basically. Just because they are money hungry.

FMS is out of their mind. It's clearly 18th scale, but they insist on calling it 24th scale. They're still trying to play the 24th game when the TRX-4M has shown that people really don't care. Both the Butcher (Power Wagon) and K5 really want to be 10mm longer, both for looks and for performance. You can see on the K5 body where they fudged the dimensions to fit it to the 139mm wheelbase. Once you see it, you can't un-see it. So disappointing. It had a lot of potential. At least on the Butcher you can easily extend the wheelbase. You'd have to hack up the K5 body and then it would look even worse.

Yeah I do wish they had kinda shrunk the entire thing down a bit or just went full on 1/18 because like you said we’ll run it how we want anyway. My Trx4m is 1/24 in my mind just because I run it on the same obstacles as the 1/24s so it really don’t matter much. I still love the look of this one but I get what you mean for sure!

Nice body but the length is still short and you have to spend $40 to increase the rear link. The max is better platform for crawler build.
