This is great news. I was a big AWS user in the past because their free offerings made it so much easier to learn. I now have quite a bit of free Azure credit to use each month due to my job, but still very good for those who don't. I hope MS continues in this direction.

@NTFAQguy I hadn't heard about this - it would be useful to store a small, lightly-used database at no cost for the life of your subscription, which might be good for a small archive even. IDEA: many of us would love a compilation of all the "free" services like this that Azure offers - are there more?

Azure actually has it in the portal. Search for "Free services". What is frustrating is how hidden it is. So having a youtube video on it would be great.

This is a limitation from the offering. The ability to restore or convert an existing database to the free offer database, or data sync with other databases, isn't available.
