It's because of game framerates, unlike real life where a fast spinning object becomes blury, if a spinning object turns more than 360 degrees between the next frame, it'll look like it's moving backwards.

@@-aid4084 there are several instances in the video where this happens at speeds far below those that would cause the framerate issue. Towards the end of the video he is using 90 degree gears and literally driving the front and rear shafts in opposite directions, yet all wheels still rotate forwards.

I played the game a bit before this vid and noticed that as well. The game seems to magically reverse the engines so that the wheels always spin forwards (in the builder anyway).

A very important principle when it comes to gears and power transmission : torque and speed are inversely proportional, that means that whenever you reduce the speed you get more torque, and vice versa. The tutorial making you place a big gear on the engine meshing with a small gear on the driving axle makes it spin faster than the engine, but at a lower torque, hence faster top speed but lower acceleration since it has less power to pull the car's weight.

My problem is that he got an 24 teeth to 8 teeth gear transmission, it should be triple the top speed and as its seen 46 km/h didn’t got increased to 46*3=138 km/h!!!

Btw, at 32:14, the gear running into the front axle would make the wheels spin in the other direction. Idk if it’s a bug or just a visual issue, but I feel like it was worth mentioning. Awesome game tho!

@@AWSOMESNAKES I am 90% sure that is how it's supposed to be, in real life when something is spinning really fast it creates an illusion that it is spinning backwards. If anything it makes the game more realistic. Edit: Nevermind that is definitely wrong.

@@Nar3ik25 No I think you are right, its just not 'in real life' and more in camera and footage, anything with an fps, like the game, as it captures moments where the wheel has spun more than 50% of a tooth of the gear, making the wheel appear to be rotating backwards.

@headnshoulder, love the idea of the game and some of the ideas from scrapman are great ideas for improvements. I would also suggest for the wind resistance, having some colour indicator to be able to identify where the air resistance is worse or better (if this is not already in there)

Scrapman, you could've put an engine on both sides of that gear that might improve the acceleration. Which might make it better for stunts. Either way, I enjoyed seeing this game. I love that it's free. I'm probably going to pick up this one.

You should check the torque stat when you have two engines on the drivetrain, the torque should double since the weight is shared between two engines, this could help with stunt queen if that’s the case

this is like gearblocks + scrap mechanic kan would love this also scrapman, rule of thumb for gears is bigger to smaller = faster, and smaller to bigger = more power/torque. you can remember it easily by remembering the smaller gear has to spin more than the bigger one. after that you get into calculating gear ratios, which can be a little painful at times lol.

When you were struggling with the adding of the additional engine, you could just have used the space on the 3 space axis as you had it to put a 3 space block in there for the peg opening you needed. It only would have needed to get an extender in order to properly install the engine like you wanted two and have a two engine four wheel drive.

Gave this a try based on the video. It's pretty good. Building could be improved (being able to move and multi-select parts for instance), and there's definitely bugs....but yeah, so far really fun to muck around with! Maybe you and Kosmo could try the Multiplayer?
