+MetalJesusRocks The main thing that bothers me about homebrews/re-released like this is for some reason people can't get labels to stick to a cart. This bothers the shit out of me considering it's typically a brand new product. 8:44 Noah's Ark 3D. Label is coming off on the top left already. That was nice to see the NUke Nukem on the video, I know it is a fraction of the original game and still not as fun as it should be, but back in the nineties we couldn't afford the new systems here in Brazil because they were too expensive, (video games are still very expensive around here) so at least Tec Toy, a very good Brazilian company created many different games for the old ones, like Street Fighter 2 for the Sega Master System and others.

What I love about these and all the titles made for dead consoles over the last 15(?) years or whenever the first guy to do this put out the first title is that it proved I wasn't the only one who loved 8/16 bit titles enough to want to see NEW titles. These guys pose as legit but are not in the least, sure they got some licenses, but only to a few major titles, these guys where all wanted in several countries for a while for selling bootleg/chipped games for a seemingly legit company known as "Nordic Games", they are pretty good at making themselves seem legit, I remember how they began buying up cheap Super Street Fighter 2 cartridges (Japanese) for the Snes then basically stuck them in a EU cartridge, they did work for a while, until several consoles turned aflame and they disappeared as a result.
@Insertmiddlefinger8 жыл бұрын
Simply put: These guys sell a couple of legit titles, and at times thousands of illegal copies (depending on their economy, these guys have done the same about 5/6 times before for over two decades, when consoles start breaking, then they spend the money and begin all over again under a new identity in a new country)

The Gaming Paladin There hasn't been a new starfox game released since 2011, so the IP isn't as big as it once was (at least from Nintento's eyes). While it's not impossible, this company will need a large amount of capital and some more years under their belt.

I am not surprised that these didn't work on the Retron5. The Retron5 uses stolen emulators to play the games. It dumps the cart and runs the rom every time you play. Retrousb and other sites that sell this kind of stuff usually have a disclaimer so that Retron5 users know it won't work.

+PikoInteractive while I have you here can I ask you a question? How is it that you go about securing the "rights" for these games? Plus these were never official releases anyway, are the copyrights and such even valid for bootlegs? Thanks!
@bleemnet9 жыл бұрын
Well this game is not a bootleg it is just an unlicensed game, like Accolade's carts on the Genesis or Tengen's on NES. We actually acquired the rights of 8 Taiwan exclusive games from SuperFighter Team, which is a game publisher that does similar work than us, but have been around since the early 2000's. They have the rights of many Chinese video game properties, they've acquired complete Chinese game developers. Tectoy have a license from SEGA to produce games that is still valid. Just to let you know! Keep up with the good work! I love your channel!

Comments: Water Margin looks like it was totally inspired by Knights of the Round. That Duke Nukem 3D release looks like it's based on Wolfenstein 3D. Also, I am able to find it among many other new Genesis releases available on Ebay from Russian sellers, fully translated into Russian and featuring Russian box and manual. I wonder about Piko's licensing of these things, since they're obviously being manufactured somewhere in the East (Russia and/or China) as well. I've seen many new Famiclone games from Chinese sellers on Ebay also.

They got many licenses, but not all of those whose games they sell, lets just say that I worked with them, they are good at making it seem like they got the rights to everything here, which they do not. 3D Noah`s is an example, they have not paid all of the rights, yet still sell the game as if they did. (The team behind this used to call themselves "Nordic games" and sold unlicensed and foreign games somehow modded to work on EU/US consoles all of which overheated them, the team disappeared years ago and have resurfaced now, ask my brother, he works with them still, their identities are fake)

I seriously love what Pikointeractive is doing. Talk about a niche market. Considering the costs of obtaining publishing rights and the cost of designing/producing the physical copies of these games (that are no doubt not printed in as many copies as most modern games to help spread the cost), I don't think the prices they're asking are unreasonable at all. Actually after taking a look at their site I was surprised to see most of their games are priced very reasonably all things considered. I wonder if they turn any kind of a profit at all.

Thank you, MetalJesus. It is nice to find these new licensed games for our favorite old consoles. You have made many lists of hidden gems and must have's. May I suggest you do a video of top new licenced retro games that YOU think collectors should get. Maybe your subscribers would like that. I don't think you have done that yet. Cheers

You had me sold on included game manuals. Probably one of my least favourite things about the newer generations is that they stopped making game manuals and put them up online. The best thing about those manuals was taking them to school and using it to advertise the game to your friends. They never showed EVERY enemy in the manual, nor every boss or any secrets. It was an appetizer for the game. I'm an adult now (legally, not mentally) so I don't care so much about showing off new games to my friends any more, but manuals will always hold a place in my heart. R.I.P. Game Manuals. You will be sorely missed.

Piko are the company that I hoped there to be. I always thought that nobody is going to finish unfinished games, and finish them. same thing to bring a region-locked game and bringing it to other regions. and I feel like the world is a much better place now.

Nice vid. Got some new releases. It's cool to see some publishers trying to bring things in the right way. I've also bought a few games from Super Fighter Team which, as far as I know also gets the rights to some games that were never over here or released. Mostly translated games for Genesis. I bought a few homebrews, one NES game I got was Armed for Battle CIB brand new. It's nice to have some extra things like this.

I've read about Broken Circle quite a few years ago in Unseen64 article. Was very suprised to see it here, completed and released. Kinda nice to see it getting the second chance.

Nice video. As a note: Apocalypse II is a clone of the classic arcade game Mad Planets.

Whoa! I just noticed those non-rectangular boxes on your top shelf. I've only ever seen one store ever sell those.
