We really take our Gc8 and Sti’s for granted here in Oz, lucky my husband keeps his Type Ra in pristine condition.

@@SubaruONLY I am in way over my head, learning as I go! I bought an 02 WRX donor, have the JDM EJ205 out of it and sitting on my garage floor. Harnesses just went off to iwire last week. Previous owner already had the 2.5RS crash bar on the front bumper was damaged and I also bought a new OEM 2.5RS bumper (same as the STI ver. 5/6 if I understand correctly? looks the same as what you have). Mine is also acadia green... I am at the stage I need to start swapping front and rear subframes... I am moving everything over from the donor car using WRX suspension, brakes, etc...

Did you get the RS bumper support bracket too or did you just cut the L bracket to make it work? I just picked a bumper up from the dealer as well and am debating if I want to get the rs bumper bracket or not.
@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
I used the JDM bracket, mostly to save time and weight. But cutting the US one is prob the best route to take, at least for safety.
@darickjames79233 жыл бұрын
@@SubaruONLY sweet, I was planning on using my L bracket cut, just wasn't sure if there was any added benefit of using the 2.5rs one since it looks like it goes down around the fog light area. Up here in oregon it's pretty hard to find the rs in the scrap yards so I'm not able to grab one at a reasonable price. I think I'll chop mine and call it a day. Thank you.

Man i wish we got any sort of coupe's here in Australia other than the STI coupes. That being said, I went to a JDM meet on saturday night and was suprised at the amount of subarus there. Good 5 -10 GT (st/b??) foresters. Then walking along there was a random, and im assuming it was genuine and not a kit (it looked dead stock) 22B sti!

@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
Sweet man. Yep, the RS hood should fit fine. Nice 👍
@nelsonlandaverde95463 жыл бұрын
Thanks. What about the Rs bumper? Anything I would need to do to the L bumper beam to make it fit?
@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
Yes, for the RS bumper, that L beam needs to be chopped up quite a bit, but it’s all along existing lines and it’s pretty easy. Mostly the bottom half, there’s a few YT videos out there that go over it in detail. Also, a cut up USDM L bumper beam is MUCH safer and more rigid than using the JDM ones - better in nearly every way - only thing that’s better about the JDM one is it’s crazy light weight, but worse in every other way. Cheers!

Can you do a hybrid build like 251 heads with a 257 block?
@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
That’s a cool one, I’ll def add that to the list of potential options! Still weighing out everything before choosing a path forward.
@IMasterChiefII73 жыл бұрын
@@SubaruONLY I know I might eventually do something like this and there aren’t really any videos that go in depth on this type of swap. There are a lot of questions to answer with this one, how reliable are the 251 heads, what do you have to do to lower compression, engine management options, price vs an sti swap
