A great collab! One point that I hadn’t seen emphasized in any videos until this one is that the core gem power freeing “trick” is a rinse and repeat process: every time you add or upgrade your resonance gems, you can repeat the four steps outlined in the summary and free up even more gem power, until you have enough gem power from the resonance gems to activate the main gem without infusing or transferring any gem power. This could be a great video for more hands-on learners who have watched auroth’s tutorial and still haven’t fully internalized the process. I also like your f2p use case example!

I have fortunately been unknowingly preparing for this feature, by saving up to 40 duplicates of all 2 star gems, and keeping a bunch of lackluster dormant 5 stars which are used as resonance gems for good gems. It seemed like a foolish and hopeless thing to do, like a hoarder, but Auroth encouraged me to keep doing it. 1 and 2 star extraction would not have been enough to allow for my hoarding to pay off in any major way, but this new gem power freeing system did the trick! I’m now using an r7 howler’s call, r3 zwenson’s, and r6 blessing (in place of a bottled hope in my roiling consequence, since I use bh as a main gem), which has taken me from 3.7k to 4k reso with a good mix of star counts, and perhaps more importantly has unlocked some additional bonus attributes.

Honestly it was just an excuse for me to pick his brain and try to learn as much as I could. The dude is truly a min-max savant and does complex calculations in his head in the blink of an eye 😂

Although I made the mistake of jumping ahead a time or two here n there on insert gem upgrading (used more Telluric Fragments than I really needed too that I was trying to save for Frostmourn), over all I think I did really well with y'alls revelation of this mechanic & guidance. I knew some of this just from what seemed obvious from patch notes, but I had no idea of just how deep & beneficial this new mechanic of shared GP is until you two guys in this video. My highest reso build... I jumped ~600 reso to a hair over 5.6k and about 400 or so for my lowest reso build. I already had managed to crossover 5k once before just to get wings, but then dormanted un-used 5*'s I had w/o crushing (fearing I might need them someday... and now I do) and then dropping down a lil bit for what I wanted to actually use. I still have some of them dormanted for a later time that aren't beneficial to use at present. I'm so used to saying I have plenty of dupes and no gem power, but now it's the reverse lol. 1,933 extra GP just sitting in my bag with 0 dupes to use any on. Reminds me of the familiar/pet system... I have enough spirit essences (pet food) vs actual contracts... 3:1 ratio respectively lol (10,394 pet food {179 contracts worth} but only a mere 64 contracts). But this new GP mechanic system... It's created an itch to re-open my wallet a smidge to see if I can make it to 6k for those wings by New Year day lol... but I'm going to try to restrain myself. Also, and I want to apologize in case y'all did mention this part and I missed it, but even though 1* gems don't contribute GP to the main gem (yet), 1* gems can now also have GP extracted to dormant them if needs be. And... 5* gems can now be progressively upgraded after reaching rank 4 instead of rank 5. One thing I would warn for some players... if you have multiple builds that uses a varying mix-n-match of main lego gems for whatever your reasonings may be, no matter how awesome this new mechanic is, be prepared to spend some time on it. It'll be so worth it though.

For any who may ask regarding my comparing to pet contracts & spirit essences "Why do you have so many contracts instead of using them?"... because even with what little changes that's been made, overall, the familiar mechanics is still too overly complicated for many (myself included) + poor RNG being involved. Therefore, I'm just saving til a future time in case devs give a good overhaul re-work like how they just did with lego gems & gem power usage. I may use a couple contracts every once in a while when bored and to test RNG after being a while since previous rolling of the dice, but that's it. Plenty I know who have well over 200 contracts saved up, whales included, who still don't fully understand the system. But my inclusion of it was to give a comparative reference of now so much GP vs no dupes to that of 3 times as much pet food vs contracts.

We didn't show it on the video but you're absolutely correct regarding dormant 1-stars and your warning It can be hard to stay invested to watch a 1 hour video. I personally don't mind long form content (depending on the subject matter of course) but I generally try to stick to ~20-30 minutes and under for my videos. This was a special case because I learnt so much myself by having back and forth discussion/thought process with Auroth. I wanted to include all the useful information and natural flow of the conversation intact. As always I do include timestamps in all my videos if people want to quickly skip ahead to a certain section. I really appreciate your feedback and that you took the time to watch the video before commenting ☺️

I found out about Aurot, about a long video about pets, where he talked about traits, and then I started watching his builds, and what he was doing on Crusader. I'm only playing Crusader, I haven't changed my class. Thank you for the good content. There's also one player, a KZbinr, riger gaming, but he's mostly in pvp mode.

One drawback to this strategy and that blizzard should fix is that when there is an event (such as wild brawl) where you enter with your main gems but without any embedded resonance gems, all you main gems became dormant and you lose those abilities

You do not need to unequip the gem to extract it's power. you can do it directly from the jeweler

You're right, thanks! I was trying my best to learn the optimal way to do things. Auroth also nudged me in the right direction more than once during this video Even though I understood the basic concepts I was still rusty with navigating my way through the NPC menus. I can't remember the last time I had to extract gem power or make one of my gems dormant. I also wasn't used to making so many upgrades at once so was a bit slow with those 😅 Will slowly get used to it!

I used my rank 9 mourn’s GP to rank up my zillion grim dupes that had been sitting in my bag to r9 - just to test r9 grim - for science! It’s nice I can just put my GP back to my mourn and just have a r9 grim dormant in my bag to use if it becomes meta for some build :)

We included a segment in the 2nd half of the video dedicated to F2P which has a few strategies and advice to follow. We conceded that as a new F2P player it might take a while for you to utilise this system to it's full potential. However as a dedicated player with a few decent gem upgrades and awakened slots you can expect to start reaping some benefits of this system after ~8-12 months

Appreciate you guys for the video. I just tested with 2 star and 1 star gems - it’s didn’t work. For example if you extracting power from 1 star (rank10) and empowering using another 1 star gem rank 10 - its not working. Another example. If you extracting from 2 star rank 5 - gem become dormant and the putting 1 star rank 10 - it’s not working again. So it’s not a lot advantage for me using this method.

Hopefully they expand this feature and it gets added to the game A good use case for F2P player is upgrading from a ranked up 2-star to a 5-star. This will of course take a lot of time to collect necessary duplicates but will be very useful once ready

When I power extract and follow this method, on my rank 6 echoing shade for example, this does not work for me. It tells me I need 850 gem power to activate. Am I missing a step?

You need to go to the jeweller and top the gem up after putting the reso gems inside if they are not enough to activate the 5-star 🙏

@@karenhaley58 You will never completely lose those bonuses they are simply either active or inactive depending on which gems you have inside. You have the flexibility to replace any gem slotted in to a more optimal one that unlocks the extra resonance bonuses at any time. The only thing you might have to manage is gem power allocation. If you ranked a non optimal gem to a high rank and your main gem needs that gem power to be active then you will have to slot a gem to similar rank to replace it. Thankfully we have the option to make 2-stars dormant so the system is very flexible to easily move around gem power. It will come down to how many dupes you have depending on the situation In some parts of this video I prioritized having gem diversity so I could rank top tier 2-stars even if it meant I wouldn't immediately have access to the resonance bonuses of the "main" 5-star. That strategy won't be for everyone though

@@xaxoxixi2563I started the video with 5 gem power 🙂 Admittedly I had a few rank 5 2-stars slotted which have me gem power but in the previous system this would be "locked" and we wouldn't have a chance to utilise it. Please check the F2P segment of the video. I showed an example where it could have good use for F2P players

Previously if u wanted to try a new 2-star gem u often had to destroy one of your previous gems. This is not the case anymore. If you wanted to upgrade a 5-star to rk4 it would cost u 3 dupes and 225 fragments. Now you only need the dupes because as f2p u can power it up with a rank 7 2-star gem. Maybe you cant free a lot of fragments immeditely if you just focused on 8 gems before this update but the new changes will be EXTREMELY useful for f2p players. 🤷 Many F2P players couldn’t have different gem setups for different types of content before but now they will ve able to try out all 2-star and 1-star gems freely ☺️ I think that some f2p players just don’t understand the inplications of this update fully yet. Often a few people complain a lot that something is only ”p2w” friendly but often it is because they don’t understand some mechanics fully yet 🙏 Merry X-mas! 😍🔥

It is not intended for f2p. They are a for profit company they are trying to expand the mid spenders as they have shown a willingness to spend just can’t do it at the pace or depth as the whales who have mostly maxed or close to it so this change puts the game on more solid financial footing.

I'm thinking it's time for f2p to stop using their embers to craft a lego crest each week. It's looking like ranking 2* gems is the main progression path going forward and those require a ton of dupes after r5. Converting embers into telluric fragments is one of the only ways to get dupes for free.

Yes, sounds like that could be a wise choice. Any system like crafting that lets you choose the specific gem for your progression will get more more valuable over time. As they introduce more gems the pool will keep growing larger. Getting a specific duplicate from a crest will theoretically get harder unless they add more systems that let you narrow the pool

Yes, I was one of those people. If you watch my older videos I had a R10 Fervent Fang, Pain Clasp, Viper's Bite & Mother's Lament! I was loving that setup but unfortunately I made the painful decision to scrap them for gempower to get more combat rating by upgrading 5-star gems. I needed that to clear higher Challenge Rifts (First Clears) and Raids/Gauntlets. I would have loved to see this system added to the game about a year ago! A silver lining is you can always slowly rebuild your 2-star arsenal through Telluric Fragments from running Rare crests
