Recently purchased a fresh bottle of the 12, bottled in 2021. I dug out and old 2018 bottling I had and the difference in color is absolutely staggering. Even more pronounced than your examples. Haven't opened the 2021 yet but looking forward to making the comparison!

Had Glenallachie 12 two years ago . it was much lighter in colour, tasted pretty decent but didn't blow my socks off. Since this batch looks all different, I'll probably give it another try.

The version that you tasted would have been distilled and blended by different people. The version that you buy today has been blended by Billy Walker who is one of Scotland's best distiller/blenders. He has been at Glenallachie for 4 years.

I have only seen the 2018 batch of the 18. I am excited to see the new batch. Have both the 2020 and 21 12 both good both dark. I get a earl grey tea note that I love. They are bargain bottles. Have the 2020 15 as well but I don’t feel the 3 years is worth the 30% up charge.

If you guys had the 2018 version of the GlenAllachie 12 you would see a world of difference in the color and taste. The 1/24/2019 12 year was much better than the 2018, and the 2020 (and those yet to come) will only continue to get better and better. The 2020 is excellent and I look forward to grabbing a 2021 once it becomes available.

I have said this before but.. I started watching after seeing Scott on another channel. The first time I watched this channel and Bart did his intro..I was like who the hell is this guy…lol but after the third episode Bart was growing on me. The difference between the 2019 and 2021 15-year is huge. The older bottling is good but the newer one is fabulous.

I tried the 12 a couple of years ago and it was mostly bourbon influence. Still lovely but it remained in the honey, grain, spice department in my view rather without that much sherry impact. Sounds like it's been taken in an even more wow'y direction.

Speaking of testing it, I'm watching a documentary called "The Other One: The Long Strange Trip of Bob Weir". He co-founded The Grateful Dead with Jerry Garcia, even though he was just a young'un himself. The Merry Pranksters called him "The Kid" when he followed his bliss right onto that bus with Neal Cassidy and Ken Kesey. He "tested" @cid every Saturday for a year, he says, and he's still here to tell the tale! The film shows him squiring his wife and daughters around San Francisco, pointing out the place he once shared with Cassidy, telling his daughters "Neal was a guy-well, I'll explain him to you when you're older, it's kinda hard …" Anyway, this is the kind of stuff I can only watch while Birddog is napping under the porch. He's been there and done that and had enough and moved on, while I was a clueless ten-year-old in Kentucky. He's not nostalgic, but I am, and I wasn't there!
