one of the coolest things about this laser, i didn't even mention, is it's green diode. they do still offer red, for less money, but of course i had to get green. way better visibility.
@DT-vc7hd2 жыл бұрын
WRT a green diode, I understand that it's more visible (to the human eye), but does that translate to throwing power? In other words, is it primarily a short-distance, indoor technology, or is it an across-the-board upgrade from the red?
@DT-vc7hd2 жыл бұрын
Nevermind, I think I found the answer, "When it comes to outdoor use, the advantages of green lasers in bright light begin to disappear. This is because under sunny outdoor conditions, you will need to pair your laser with a detector even if you are measuring relatively short distances. Importantly, green laser light dissipates faster in bright outdoor light than red laser light, which means that they can actually be harder to measure than red lasers at significant distances."

All I want to know, is it useful in real world application. Does it improve productivity over a regular laser measure or is it just gimmicky stuff that will never get used.
@tooltipswithtommy2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's gimmicky, but you have to need it. So if you bid out jobs, or use a tape measure daily, especially for distances over 35 feet, then absolutely is useful. Some of the more obscure functions that you may never use can be called gimmicky but they're always nice to have just in case. Only you can answer the question whether you need it or not.
@pingpong96562 жыл бұрын
@@tooltipswithtommy That is true - would be nice to have a video of someone using it to quote a large job and maybe do a side by side with regular laser measure to get an idea if it improves work flow and calculation over paper notes - just food for thought!

I want to use such a device with a plastic corner-cube reflector plate, which reflects THOUSANDS as much back in the direction of the emitter than a white paper-like surface. (See Lambertian reflector.) I want to measure 500, 1000, 2000 meters, with a resolution of 1 millimeter . Problem is, I don't think the device will 'wait for' such a delayed reflection, even when it arrives late.

That is interesting. I think the distance equation in the tool, limits is distance. Regardless of the surface it's hitting.
@jimbell41378 ай бұрын
@@tooltipswithtommy well, there are at least two limits. If the beam doesn't hit anything, there is nothing to detect. However, if the object that reflects the light is further away then the device expects to see, it may also report no measured distance.
