of course i too have the same opinion .... V12 is mandatory ..but this doesnt feel plush and refined as an s class ....i reckon S class of SUVs was a marketing gimmick

I can see what you mean about it not being quite as luxurious as the S class. The S class has much more leather and that beautiful steering wheel with contrast stitching. Other than that though, it's a beautiful SUV. Love the extensive use of tech including the MBUX tablet.

@@jimmyngxc I'm pretty sure the new one will be upgraded to the 4.0l engine. All the other AMG V8 models have been upgraded to the 4.0l engine, so it's just a matter of time for the GLS.

@@jimmyngxc No the 4.0l engine is much faster, it's also far far more responsive. However tuning wise, the 5.5l engine can probably withstand more power/torque, so it has greater potential.

9:35 few updates about the future : - Tobias Moers (AMG's CEO) already confirmed that AMG will continue to build the V12 in the future exclusively for Maybach. - The future V12 powered Maybach models are gonna be named S680 and GLS 680 both in Europe, America and China. - At AMG, the top of the line V12 65 will replaced by the 800 hp hybrid V8 named 73 and starting next year in the GT 4 door. - And former CEO Dieter Zetsche already confirmed that the long-term plan for Maybach, is to have, like AMG, fully Maybach models alongside their top versions of Mercedes-Benz models. So we can expect soon a future Mercedes-Maybach limousine concept (closer to production than the Vision 6 Coupe, 6 Cabriolet and Ultimate Luxury concepts of the last years) fully electric and being a real competitor of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. That might be also why they're killing off the S-class coupe and cabriolet after the current generation to make room for a full Maybach coupe and convertibles luxury line up.

So glad they finally upgraded the GLS with the 2020 dual screen dashboard, it is awesome. However I can't believe they dropped the option of the upgraded "DESIGNO LEATHER". What a shame that for their top of the line "S" class SUV that the DESIGNO leather is no longer an option. It was for 2019 and it is beautiful. Hoping that MB will add that option soon.

Great channel. I love the production quality! It should win an award. One thing I don't get is the name...from googling RBR is a tag that gets removed from the fire extinguisher? Maybe a graphic that explains the name in the intro (i.e. a RBR tag gets pulled and a car races off) would help the general YT audience follow the channel's brand.

This Gen GLS, is riddled with problems. Got the car about 2 weeks ago, in the middle of highway, all infotainment system and safety system goes down. (And other 6 different problems.) They claimed it will be fixed with “simple software update” but nope. They now then say my new car has to go through exchanging whole control unit. We returned the car and am unsure if we are going back to GLS. Should have gotten another S550.

FWIW, I don't equate leather upholstery with luxury. Its barbaric and tacky. You had might as well have some horns on the hood, the tow hitch balls, and a Mooo sample for a horn. I'd rather have hemp or marine canvas upholstery. Its humane, lower maintenance, and more durable.
